Chapter 40: Chapter 40

"You did what?!!!" Astonished, I watch his eyes dart everywhere but my meaningful glare focus on him.

"It's just a little white lie." He replies.

"Telling coach you're my baby sitter till my parents get back from their trip is not a little white lie. How could he even believe that?" Really, how could he? It's a very obvious lie that even I can smell from a mile away. If only he knew my parent is all cozy up for the weekend at home.

"Wellllll." He drawls out scratching the back of his hair and my voice hardens.

"Austin?" I call with deep volume in a warning tone showing I'm not messing around because I'm very close to exploding. What did his crazy ass do again?

"Okay, okay, okay. I may have been chirping in two or more whites lies to skip practice earlier to be with you." my mouth drop open. Flashes of how early he's been recently available that got me concerned but brushed it off when he sideline the issue telling me it's just my crazy mind again. One second, two seconds, three seconds and I blink shaking my head as if coming out of a daze.

"You're exhausting. Really." I give up on him. Officially. "Couldn't you be straight about it than involving me in your so called white lies."

"Where's the fun in that?" i throw a mean glare at him which he chuckles. "Besides I think it's too late to return these." He brings out a pass card of identification from his pockets. I sigh while telling my heart to stop fluttering at his craziness.

"Okay. What do you have in mind?"

"I believe we should leave earlier to explore LA before coach and my teammates arrive to the hotel by noon." I nod as we kept walking.

"Why do I feel like I'm going to be a huge distraction?" I blurted out.

"Without you is what is going to be a huge distraction. Trust me." He gives a pointed look.

"But I have to tell my mum and dad." I contemplate.

"Done."

"Pack my essentials." Eyeing him.

"Almost about done." he pulls his hands out of his jacket pockets running them through his hair as if it wasn't looking kept before.

"You really want me to take a road trip with you to LA." I chuckle which he smirks.

"Very."

"Enough about us. How's your mum's surprise birthday going?"

He emphasizes dramatically with his hands. "Horrible. Like I suck at planning a decent dinner party." I throw my head back laughing which he didn't find funny. Once sober up I cut in to save the day.

"First you need to know her favorite things, like flower, color, meals, you know, those things she does often than normal that makes her smile. Let's start with color." I really should be a super hero. I smile at my flimsy thought which died at the first color he said.

"Like...what do you say about black?" What is with this boy and the color black. It would cry if it were a human being because of his misuse of it.

"No Austin. Any color aside black."

"How about brown black?" my face squish into a frown. "red black?" he tries again morphing the frown on my face into a glare. "Green, green black?" Who was his teacher in kindergarten? Because he or she needs to serve time...a life sentence kinda time.

"Did you skip the entire of kindergarten, preschool and middle school?" he chuckles picking up a smooth stone and threw it at a safe distance.

"Maybe." rolling my eyes at that. "Hey! I'm just messing with you." I want to believe that, I really do but it's Austin we're talking about here. This boy has a good number of black clothes than a congregation of moaners at a burial scene. In other words, I don't trust him.

"How about I plan the birthday and leave you to drinks and music." before it goes into a huge disaster. I'll rather not complete that thought.

"And here I thought I'll be useful." he says in mocking hurt holding his chest.

Smiling cheekily at him. "Don’t worry Austin just stand by and be use…less." whispering the last part in mock which I fail to realize he heard reaching for me.

I scream running fast away from his wrath as he began chasing me around the park after my very insulting comment. Thanks to his long legs I was caught in a matter of minutes falling on the smooth grass of the park. Just when I thought my luck couldn’t run out more, rain started pouring down heavily on us. Quickly he help me up shielding my hair with his jacket as we ran inside a gazebo. I shake off myself wringing my drenched hair of the excessive amount of water in it.

"God, I hate the rain." flapping my hair to straighten the now frizzle strands for it to dry faster, I look to him resting on one of the many pillars holding the roof in place.

"It's not that bad." he gave me a very obvious look to which I laugh softly at welcoming his jacket he placed on my shoulders to keep me warm. "Okay, aside the drenching us part." he laughs with me, our eyes glued to the pouring downfall that ruined most of the parkers night. A peaceful quiet time until someone decided to ruin it.

"Why do sense this is the moment you are about to kiss me."

I laugh giving him attitude. "No I'm not." really, I'm not.

"Well I am." my head snaps to him grinning cockily as he got closer tracing his lips on mine before kissing me fully. It felt cold, yet warm. Nothing extra. Just lip play like he's enjoying the fullness of my lips as I enjoy his softness on mine. I pull away smirking.

"You could have just said you wanted to kiss me."

A hand grip my waist drawing me in. "Now I do." this time he dived in for the taste like a starved man hungry to quench that flaming appetite. Gone was the lip play, now comes the real deal. I felt myself melting into his loving arms as my head tilts to the side just as our kiss deepens. Butterflies explodes in my belly, my heart flutters at this new found highness and I smile into the kiss giving it my all with the rain pouring down, the thunder blasting off and our hearts beating as one. We kissed into the night.

"Hey! Kids! It's getting late, the rain stopped like an hour ago. You have to leave." the flash of the security guard's torchlight woke us up from our little slumber. Austin helps me up from our snuggle as I right myself thanking the older looking guard watching us. Stepping out of the gazebo, the guard is right, everywhere looks dry not totally though. Drowsily, I rest my head on Austin's chest, he hangs his arm on my neck chuckling softly while saying something I couldn't grasp fully. I'll deal with that another day when I'm not too tired to question him. But for now, I'll let the sleeping dogs lie.
