Chapter 30: Chapter 30
“Sorry thank you.”
We left the sixth store at the mall because her royal majesty did not seem fit the gowns to be perfect for our prom. If I go through one more store without a dress for prom, I’ll explode.
Literally.
“Wipe that scowl off your face. This is your first and last prom babe, we have to kill it.” I sigh in defeat.
“I don’t want to kill anything. Those gowns in the last six stores were okay by me.” She gasps dramatically stopping and turning to me in shock.
“Don’t you dare say that again, ever? We are queens and we need something worthy of our status.”
“Bailey come on, please I’m tired. This mall is so huge to walk around it for the perfect gown. I’m not going to be the prom queen so anything is fine by me.” She looks at me stupid. Why did I let my mum and her talk me into this? I’m so regretting it now.
“I need to slap you for that foolish remark but I’ll refrain. Don't you know Austin needs to see his girl looking dashing and exquisite that night.”
“For the last time, he doesn’t care. Just because he’s going to be prom king doesn’t mean I should dress up for that.” She kept walking and I know she dismissed me.
“Okay can we get something to eat first, I’m exhausted.” She pauses. I grin inwardly. If there's something you need to know about my best friend, it's that she loves food. Well good food.
“This last one okay. They say seven is a lucky number. After this I promise to let you rest a bit before we continue. I cannot have you looking like a maid when your boyfriend will be looking like a king.” I groan following her into the seventh store this morning.
“Go check that aisle and I’ll check over there.” I stood in the overly large store clearly lost seeing the different racks of beautiful gowns.
Scratching my brow as my eyes scan the beautiful store. “How will I find my gown?”
“Trust me, when you see it you will know.” She grins strutting off. I throw my hands in the air perplexed as she disappears in the far corner. Ugh this is not happening to me.
This store is huge; I can’t even find her talk more a dress. I sigh walking between racks my fingers tracing along every fabric material hoping I find the dress for prom which seem harder than spoken thoughts.
“I knew it was you when I saw you come in here. Don’t tell me you are going to prom?” My head snap to Kim holding tons of shopping bags from different stores. I ignored her going about my business. My morning is already exhausting as it is; she doesn’t need to ruin it more.
“Are you mute or what?”
“No. I love ignoring you. What do you want Kimberly?” something caught my eyes at the far side.
“You are so fake. I can see beyond the façade you put up for everyone.” she follows me which I ignored her.
“Whatever just leave me alone.” Cleary not in the mood for her.
“So how are you and Austin? Seems you both no longer talk to each other. Sad times, isn't it.” her annoying voice sounds cheery if not almost satisfying. I glare at her.
“Well I warned you he always come crawling back to me and that kiss and oh my god! his kisses are filled with raw emotions, passion filled you know.” Now I turn to her fully.
“What are you playing at Kimberly?”
“Nothing really. Just to let you know I always win that’s all.” I had the sudden urge to pull at her hair or tell her that Austin and I are fine. Perfect even now I’m his girlfriend. Just the look of hate on her face is enough victory for me.
“You have made your point. I wish you a happy life with him.” I smile cheekily. Clearly she didn’t expect that, glaring at me in disdain. Trust me the feeling is mutual, if not more from my side. Huffing she left after giving me a hate once over.
“Was that Kimberly I saw there?” I nod. “Did she give you any trouble cause I’m ready to go amazon on her.” Bestie to the rescue.
“It’s fine. I dealt with it. Find what you looking for?” She squeals showing me a peach color gown. It’s so beautiful and elegant.
“Found yours yet.” I pull her to the row I saw the green satin gown plucking it from its hanger. She squeals harder gushing at its beauty.
“This is it. Trust me.” I smile agreeing with her on that one. Prom here I come.
