Chapter 24: Chapter 24
This year Bailey’s birthday will be different for me why because previous years I pretend to fill up solo cups for the party goers just to steal glances at Austin who was oblivious to a girl like me at the corners flirting with a girl or talking with his teammates. No this year, I’ll join the party with him by my side.
“Waiting for the pea to your pod right?” The birthday girl asks grinning. Bailey’s curls fell in soft waves round her round face, her make up done to perfection, a short champagne color sweet heart strapless gown cling to her body like it was made for her and a pair of white shimmering ankle heels adorn her feet. My best friend is beautiful.
“I can’t wait for him to see you right now. I’m sure his eyes will bulge out getting thirsty for something sweet. The sweet in the middle.” She squeals making me blush at her lewd comment. My finger ran over my strapless white crop top tuck in a hip hugging denim jean that stop inches below my butt flaunting my curves with a pair of gold strap heels. Fiery red stained my heart shape full lips, my blonde hair curled to perfection thanks to Bailey; half up in a high knot falling down the rest around my face and shoulders. Bailey deserve an award for this look I have on because it got stares from everyone, trust me the boys is nothing innocent about theirs. For once I felt confident, bold in what I'm wearing.
The can gawk all they want too bad it’s for just one person who I am waiting for. What’s keeping him so long? The party started like an hour ago. I hope he’s okay?
“Stop fussing, he’s going to be here and when he sees you. Yikes that boy will surely piss in his pants and it’s definitely not the piss you take.” She fans herself with her hand amused.
“Bailey!” I whisper yell her name which she waves off smiling. I just can't wait to tell him my answer. The excited grin I can picture on his face makes me feel jittery and jumpy. I just can't wait any longer. Is this how exciting it feels to get to be called someone's girlfriend?
Because I'm this close to screaming my heart out.
“Come on dreamer, let’s go dance and I can tell you about the huge progress with Fredrick.” My mouth drops open.
“You didn’t just call him…you temptress.” She grins cheekily pulling me outside to the pool area where most of the student where either swimming or dancing.
I listen to her tell me everything that transpired the past days since our substitute teacher left. Who would have thought after all her failed trials, he fell for her crazy ass? Like who wouldn’t? My Bestie is not only hot but caring, loving, outgoing and sweet. She told me beneath the thick façade he is a very shy dude. I laugh so hard hearing that. Not in a million years will I believe the stern college student is anything but shy. Well like the say, opposites tend to attract. No wonder she kept pushing and pushing finally getting what she wants.
He’s to leave for Seattle after his finals to present a prototype of his invention to a billion- dollar company who saw his work when they came to his school scouting for hidden talents. I’m just so happy for her right now. She deserves to have a happy ending.
“My baby is in a relationship. I could just cry.” I fake a tear wiping my eyes. “The young ones grow up so fast.” I sniff.
“Hey!” She hit me playfully. “We are same age and I senior you with weeks ahead.” I laugh dancing. We dance together making weird moves that got us laughing harder. With the happy smile on my face I turn making my hair flip at the sound of the name only one person calls me.
“Snoopy?”
Shock is an understatement. Austin look as if he saw a ghost. His mouth forms an ‘o’, his eyes widen in wonder blinking continuously wanting to be sure of what he’s seeing.
“Snoopy is this you?” Nudging my side Bailey whispers an ‘I told you so.’
I grin biting my lower lip stretching my hands out to him. He understood walking step by step taking mine. He grins rubbing his thumb over my hands and I did the same making a smirk grow on his face.
“You look…wow.” He blinks as if coming out of a daze. I wait for him to say it smiling cheekily. He closes his eyes taking a deep breath. Guess he needed that. My heart skip in excitement. He opens his beautiful green hazels, his hand moves to my face caressing gently, I couldn’t help but lean in placing a kiss on his palm.
“So beautiful, so mine.” he claims me possessively. My eyes close relishing this moment. He pulls me close, my petite form locked in his strong embrace. His head bent resting on my head inhaling deeply. We stay that way for a few second before pulling apart.
“Man you have got to see this.” Liam laugh a drink in his hand disturbing us. “Whoa! Mary- Vienne is that you?” I blush. His eyes trail up my short shorts and ample chest. Austin frowns stepping in front of me.
“If you don’t take your eyes off my girl, I’ll do that for you.” Austin growl lowly stepping close to Liam whose eyes widen in fear.
“Sorry man. I didn’t mean to upset you.” He raises his arms up in surrender. Austin did not lose his stance just kept glaring at him looking seconds away beating him up for gawking at me ruining Bailey’s birthday. Why will he act such way to his friend? Lately he has been having control issues with his anger.
“Austin. Look at me. Please.” I tug his hand holding mine. He turns having that hate and fury in his eyes. “Hey.” I move closer caressing his face. “Come back to me, please, you’re scaring me.” That seem to work snapping him back. Squeezing my hand, he responds.
“You coming?” Liam question.
“Yeah in a minute.”
“You scared me for a second there. You sure you are okay?” I ask worried.
“I’m sorry.” Kissing my cheek. “I’ll be back.” I watch him walk off to his friends. Is he bipolar or suffering from any sort of anger issues?
Laughing Bailey hugs me. “You good babe?” I don’t know if to tell her about his recent anger issues or just let it be. Maybe he’s stressed from training.
“Yeah. Austin just acted so weird right now but its fine.” I look to his direction and back at her smiling.
“M.V.!” he waves us over.
“Oh look its Lawrence. Let’s join him.” Smiling she drag me away.
“Cool party Bailey. Once again happy birthday.” He hands her a present.
“Awe you shouldn’t have but thanks.” She places it beside other gifts on the kitchen island. I try to be active with their conversation failing woefully. My mind keep drifting back to Austin and his sudden anger. How did I not notice this before? I knew if I wasn’t watching or there with him, he would fight Liam for a harmless stare. A cold shiver ran down my body. I need to talk to him, to make sure he’s alright.
“Hey.” They both look at me. “I’ll be back, want to check on Austin and see if he’s alright.” Bailey smiles knowingly squeezing my hand.
I squeeze myself between the dancers and part goers trying to pass through them. Trust me it seems easier saying it than how it feels. I groan almost losing a footing due to student running to puke. This is not funny. I search everywhere for him and couldn’t find him. Did he leave like yesterday because he was pissed? I felt sad walking back into the house not wanting Bailey or worse Lawrence to see me in this condition. Why does he always do this? Yesterday was perfect, today is twice the opposite of it. If he can’t talk to me then I’m
worried. This in and out system need to stop. That’s not how this works.
Sighing I stood up going to the restroom. Today is for Bailey, not Austin-Bailey. So when he wants to talk I’ll be here waiting anything other than that I’ll be having fun with my best friend. Reaching the restroom, I stop dead on my tracks horrified.
Austin kissing Kimberly.
