Chapter 79: Chapter 79
I stepped on the riverside and enchanted my dress to make it dry again.
There's no way back for me to the real world except through that door or with Lanasia's guide. But in this instance, I'm on my own! I should've known he's dangerous. His bright smile overshadows the darkness within him. He's unforgiving... "Now I know from whom Hessuel inherited that attitude!!"
I kick some grasses, uproot them, and repeatedly throw them in the air as I scream, "How could he trick me with his mosquito jokes!? Why is everything and anyone delaying my ambition! I hate this progress..." I held my head afterward while refreshing my chest. The lock of my belt clunks out of the blue which is not supposed to be a bad sign, but only bad timing. We've altered the rightful time of the universe and tragically advanced events that aren't supposed to happen now.
It's aching. And my legs feel slightly stiff. Tiredness is dragging me to my knees but I just propped my hands on my knees to overcome the weight. Immediately, I manifest my spellbook to recite a spell that will flounder the movement of my womb's time. Not instantly, I started to feel better and create a plan. A small enchast surrounds my finger while I draw lines and circles in the air in front of me, solving the problem.
I turn around and absorb some of Haiban's power from the place—the same technique Lanasia did—to create a door by sketching it in the air. Then when I open the door, it takes me to a different but familiar place: the door of the room I used to stay in the palace of Asfara. I run without further ado toward the hall of Asfara, however, the silence is unusual. I almost thought this was a gloomy imitation of the place until I heard loud screams.
The noise led me to a room where Zaeramil and a few she-wolves were nursing Lanasia's delivery! Zaeramil found me speechless at the doorway. "What are you— Why did you suddenly appear here?"
"Where are the white wolves?"
"My father is leading them to Plandreas. Didn't you hear? The moon is gathering us. My father won't listen to my mother saying that she's giving birth already. What's going on?"
Cutting to the chase I said, "The moon is gathering her children to exterminate them in Plandreas!"
"Are you kidding!? Luna Maia and Sherizzah are there—!"
I grasp his arms. "So don't listen to the moon lest you die! Keep an eye on your mother." Then I rush away. Zaeramil is calling me for further questions but it's a waste of time. I saw the line-up of white wolves towards the gate outside where the statues stand. Halfway there, I stumbled on the soft grasses for the nth time in my life, I felt weariness again. That's when I heard the call,
["Come, my child. Come to me."] And it keeps echoing in my head.
All of these wolves, whether in their beast or Intelligence, are hypnotized. I untie my hair and run again to where this line-up leads. As I crossed the portal gate, I found myself in the residence of Plandreas. Behind me is a huge portal connecting to Asfara. And what's more intriguing that wonderstruck every single werewolf here is the super moon in the night sky. It's bigger than usual...
Majestic like never before.
That's when I knew that this wonder in heaven is used to attract the werewolves and me! The call inside my head stops but the werewolves are still marching to claim their spots for this amazing nature. Things to prioritize bombarded my mind:
I have to find Linly and stop the Moon Goddess. But Haiban is also a part of this movement so he must be arrested. Humans should evacuate to keep them out of this mess. But I must inform the Alphas first to lead their packs. That would still be a bad choice if the moon might force-call again anytime! And now my womb aches! "Aaah!! What should I do!?" I trampled the floor heavily.
In this kind of situation, my grandma taught me that what's within my reach should be made first. I flatten my right hand on the ground, glided it backward, and then the werewolves on the line glided back to the portal gate yet not all of them were caught. I closed the portal like a window curtain, the bridge is now locked. I did not have much strength to run to the palace, so when I saw a bench on the sidewalk, I enchanted it to float toward me, sat there, then flew to the palace.
The steel bench drops in front of the castle door and I slam it as I make my entrance. Here at the terrace, it feels unlikely to behold the city roads filled with werewolves. Some humans are fascinated until the bell of the palace rings which signifies a warning throughout the whole city. Human knights are assisting the people but the objective isn't easy because of the massive crowd.
This is genocide by the hand of silver wolves again.
On the other hand, I have to stop Haiban 'tho it's hectic to find him room-by-room, so I'll just make him come at me! Using my spellbook, I enchanted the radiance of the moon: the bright light it emits turns into the color of blood. The city gets darker. The second the red dim moon transforms, the scream of every person on the road terrifies me and the wolves, but that's what should happen: to alarm them that something terrifying is at the door.
The next thing I should do is find Linly! I run back inside but in just two steps a giant jaw of a werewolf attacks me! Falsely assuming it was real, I enchanted a shield and the illusion pushed me down from the balcony! The enchanted bench on the ground catches me and I hold on tight to it when it spins in the air but I set my feet smoothly on the ground... I know it's him. I form my stance and my enchast illuminates on my right arm.
Haiban is casually standing in front of the entrance door. And then I said, "You didn't give me a crunch time to find you, father."
"I'm not playing hide and seek. It's you who's giving yourself a hard time, my child." He manifests his golden spellbook with his left hand and my hand automatically throws a swift enchantment that binds his spellbook in chains, the book drops to the ground. "You are devoted to the werewolves. I can't imagine how ambitious you are to escape my world for a short period of time and return here. Are you really going to defy me?"
"I don't want to, I just have to. Please, don't do this."
He's walking closer to me without a shade of his guards. "This is the moon's order. My will and her will may be aligned but whether it be my choice or not, this call is by force." Then he's standing in front of me, hands behind him. "How about you? Don't you want to stop? After all, this is just because of your dream. My child, you're a strong woman. You don't need a man. You don't have to make your own weakness. You are powerful on your own. You don't need a family."
"What?" I suddenly consider slapping him but that might convince him to withdraw his blessing. "I know I'm a strong woman... but I'm not a martyr. The common definition is exaggerated. And I define mine. Yes, I'm a strong woman because I know how it felt to be weak. I'm not rising consistently, I do fall sometimes. I'm not doing this for myself. I'm doing this for the people I love and because they are my strength too, and I know I can do it for them because I'm strong.
"I am strong enough to defy my hunger! Only a zombie apocalypse will defeat me! So, to answer your question, no. I will not stop!" I enchanted a magical rope to bind him. "If there's none else who'll stop you, then I will."
"... Our dreams are not the same in every detail. Mine is a nightmare to others. And your dream, just like the books you've read, is fiction."
I didn't mean to glare at him. "Then I'll prove to you I'm stronger than your words," I groaned. I was startled when he gasped my wrists after manifesting my spellbook! The bind is nothing to him!
The next thing I knew, an explosion between us exploded and I'm tossed away from him. Instead of rolling on the ground, a fluffy red carpet catches me by enchanting it. On my feet, I draw with my hands a huge enchast behind me and it fires dangerous giant rocks at him from where he's standing. He dodges the big one and it crashes the facade of the palace, then he makes an enchast shield in one hand to parry the small rocks coming at him.
"You're going to kill me!?" he sulks.
While he's busy, I throw two spinning enchast on his feet and bind his legs. I summoned another enchast beneath him when he fell on his knees, then chains appeared from it to bind his arms, legs, waist, and neck. As I walk toward him—slightly lurching because of my womb—I summon another big enchast above him and the cage dropped, firmly attached to the ground. However, I think I shouldn't have treated him as a werewolf opponent but as an Eldar! Five mighty enchast surround him and tear my chains and cage into shreds!
A heavyweight feeling pinned my knees on the ground, plus, I can't ignore my womb anymore! Gripping claws snatches my jaw and I'm forced to look at Haiban. "I'll just take you down first—" A wolf fire cut his sentence, then the fire pushed him away from me. A black wolf lifts me up and takes me to the safer ground.
"Are you alright, ma'am," Chann humbly asked.
I'm now sitting behind Elibur who's standing with burning enchast, then Tanya walks beside me while she teases, "'Protect her at all costs.' Isn't that charming~?" She's now standing beside their Alpha. The Vengeance pack has gathered around Haiban—defending me too from him.
"You may leave this to us, Moon Priestess," the Alpha commands.
