Me: you're gonna answer me or not?
He smirked
Daniel : I have a match this Saturday. Care to come?
Me: no. I hate boxing
Daniel : why?
Me: it's bloody
He cracked
Daniel : it depends on the type of boxing. Mine isn't bloody yet
Me: I'm still not coming
Daniel : please. If you're there, I'll definitely win
Me: when did I become your good luck fairy
Daniel : that's not what I mean.
Me: whatever. I'm still not coming. Besides Saturday is the day I spend most time with my friends
Daniel :the Loretta girl?
Me: uhm no. I mean my friends in the States
Daniel : so you're gonna be with them till 7pm?
Me: no. I'm not even being with them physically. It's video chatting. And I don't stay there till evening
Anibe: don't worry. She'll come. I'll make sure she does
Daniel looked back
Me: when did you get here?
He walked and stood beside me
Anibe: five minutes ago
He lowered his face to kiss my cheek but he didn't kiss it immediately. He whispered
Anibe: your crush
Then he kissed my cheek. I used my hand to push him away and he staggered and brushed his body on my foot
Me: ouchhhh
Daniel : sorry
He helped me to move the foot away from the edge of the bed
Daniel : make sure you apply ice when you get home
I nodded
My brother stared at us and secretly winked at me
Daniel : uhm you must be Unugwa's brother. It's nice to meet you
He took Daniel's handshake
Anibe: it's nice to meet you too but I'm not her brother. I'm actually her boyfriend
Daniel's eyes widened
Me: seriously? Daniel, don't listen to him.
Anibe: babe, I know you're feeling shy cause you have a...
I frowned at him
Me: Anibe!!
He faced Daniel
Anibe: I'm sorry. I'm actually her elder brother with two years
Daniel cracked
Daniel : that's a relief. You're here to take her home right?
My brother nodded
Daniel : okay I'll see you tomorrow right, Unugwa?
Me: yeah definitely
Daniel : I'll get going now
Anibe shook his hand again and he left.
Anibe: let's go home
He helped me down and took my bag
Anibe: did you eat this
He asked looking into the paper bag
Me: yeah
He brought it out
Anibe: there's tomato
Me: let's go home please. I'm standing on one foot
He sighed and hung my bag then helped me walk outside. When we got outside, I saw Loretta and Claire coming back. These girls. Aren't they tired of walking?
Claire: Unugwa!
They waved at me
Me: my friends are coming. We'd have to wait
Anibe: I'm okay with that
They began to run and they got closer to us
Anibe: the second girl is really pretty. Prettier than the first one
Me: yeah. Claire is beautiful
They came to us panting.
Loretta : hey
Me: need some water
Loretta : yeah. I never knew... I never knew clinic was this far
I took the bottled water from Anibe and gave it to her
Me: it's not much. Just manage
She took it and sipped then gave it to Claire.
Finally their breath normalized
Claire: wow. Hi
Anibe: hey
Loretta : your brother?
Me: yeah
Loretta : wow. He's so good looking
Claire: I love the earring. It's sparkling
Anibe: thanks
He was smiling his sexy smile. I frowned when Claire spoke about the earring. He's gonna tell me that he was right about it
Anibe: so what's your name?
Claire: Claire
Anibe: and you?
Loretta : I'm Loretta
Anibe: you girls have pretty names. Just like your faces
Claire: awwn
Ugh. I'm standing on one foot! And this idiot is flirting
Anibe: you girls should visit us sometime
Loretta : if Unugwa permits that. It would be so fun though. Is your house huge?
Me: I don't know because I'm standing on one foot and it hurts
Anibe : oh sorry. We better get going
Claire : bye Unugwa
Loretta : better come to school tomorrow
I waved at them as they hopped back to the school building like six year olds
When we entered the car, the first thing I did was to hit Anibe on his shoulder
Anibe : ouchhhhh
Me: don't you dare flirt with my friends. You hear me?
Anibe: your friends were the ones flirting with me. Why see a handsome dude and let him go without flirting
Me: I don't flirt when I see a good looking boy
Anibe: you were flirting with that boy earlier
I groaned
Me: I wasn't!
He laughed
Anibe: the day you're gonna fall in love, I must be there to tease you
Me: what makes you think I haven't fallen in love before?
He started the car
Anibe: I know you had eyes for Eli
My eyes widened
Me: what?
Anibe: and I know you felt angry when you saw him kissing Becca, his girlfriend
Me: where do you get all these information?
Anibe: not gonna say it
He drove out of the school compound into the street
Anibe: also, that your boyfriend Kendall, you guys dated for two weeks. And you broke up with him when he kept insisting you guys fuck
I closed my eyes, I hate that last word. It's like a hot sword piercing my heart
Me: don't use profane words. And I was the one who told you about Kendall
He kept quiet and we drove home peacefully. No other family member was at home except the both of us.
He helped me to my room and went to bring ice for me. I showered and dressed casually then hopped to my bed.
This leg hurts so bad

I went to sit in the library and brought out my camera
I began to look through the pictures of the dogs I've been taking for my mom.
I've been trying to forget about Daniel and the fight
I won't think about it because it's a waste of time
I finished checking the pictures and decided that I'll have them printed out after school today. I dropped the camera on the desk and touched my swollen lip.
Me: idiot
I almost banged my fist on the desk but I remembered I was in the library
I was heading up the stairs while Daniel was heading down. We didn't talk, we just tried to walk past each other but my foot stuck on his and he stumbled down two stairs. I didn't do that on purpose though, but I was glad it happened
Daniel got enraged and jacked me up by the collar. I told him to let go of me but then he called me a jerk and I laughed and said he was just an angry bull.
He punched me in the tummy and I got angry and pushed him down the stairs. He fell down and gave me a glare.
By this time, students were already gathering both upstairs and downstairs to watch us.
I sighed and walked up the stairs. I should have known that he was gonna come back and hit me.
He raced up the stairs and pushed me to the wall. My mouth hit it and my lip broke.
I got angry and kicked his knee. He got a knee-jerk and I just left him there with one knee on the floor.
Few metres away from him, I yelled 'It's Nice To See You Bow To Me'
He stood up and Miguel came to him. I smirked and walked away.
I'm sure those last words got to him.
After reminiscing what happened earlier, I looked up and saw Loretta pacing up and down in front of my desk. I didn't ask her why. I just stared at her. Later, she sat in front of me and sighed.
Loretta: do me a huge favor please
I raised a brow at her
Loretta: please promise me you'll do it
Me: do what?
Loretta: what I'm going to tell you
Me: tell me first
She heaved a deep sigh
Loretta: I overheard Daniel telling Miguel that his ultimate plan is to make Unugwa fall in love with him. So please, help me and stop their new friendship before it gets too late
I laughed and stood up with my camera and bag
Me: I don't have your time Loretta
She held my arm
Loretta : please. I don't want Unugwa to love him
Me: then tell her
Loretta : will you please be her friend instead?
I looked her over
Me: I don't like the black girl. She's way too quiet for me
Loretta huffed
Loretta : she's not way too quiet. She's better than you when it comes to social life. For crying out loud she grew up in America. You know how American kids are
Me: whatever
I didn't want to argue with her. I would have told her that I partially grew up in America too and that I was still quiet and peaceful
Loretta : then it's up to me to do this matchmaking service. You will become friends with her whether you like it or not
She glared at me and walked out. I sighed and chuckled. Then my chuckle turned into a frown. Did she say matchmaking service? Matchmaking between who and who?
Me: Loretta come back here!
But she was out of sight and wasn't able to hear me because it was sort of a whisper
