Chapter 517: Chapter 517 - 511: Jihan Has Already Taken Mianmian Home

Before boarding the plane, Shi Su thought she would fly back looking like this. Fortunately, her luggage brought from Congjiang City was still on the car, and she didn’t know when Jing Jihan had arranged for someone to gather it for her. She took a set of clothes and changed in the makeup room of the airport lounge, quickly washed up, and rushed out to board the plane without even having time to apply skincare products.

Before the plane landed in Jiang City, Shi Su felt it wasn’t quite real. If it weren’t for each time she reached for Jing Jihan’s hand, wanting to feel his warmth, he always clasped her hand back, reminding her that everything was indeed real. Otherwise, she probably wouldn’t have managed to drink even a glass of water on the way.

It wasn’t until they landed in Jiang City, where the air instantly felt liberating, that Shi Su saw Zhou He smiling outside the airport hall, and she almost ran over to hug him in excitement.

Zhou He had no idea he had just escaped a close encounter in Shi Su’s mind. As he came to help Shi Su with her luggage, he was all smiles. But upon meeting Shi Su’s cheerful gaze shining brightly at him, he was baffled as to why Mrs. Jing was so excited to see him, so much that he felt a chill up his spine and got goosebumps, turning his eyes at Mr. Jing in confusion.

Thinking that Mr. Jing might wonder why Mrs. Jing keeps staring at him, Zhou He reassures himself that he absolutely didn’t try to flirt with Mrs. Jing nor intended to woo anyone from Mr. Jing’s side. Perhaps his natural charisma and handsomeness enamored Mrs. Jing the moment she got off the plane, but he absolutely had no intention of undermining Mr. Jing!

Shi Su didn’t notice Zhou He was already frightened by being stared at to the point of having wobbly knees.

To Shi Su, having Lu Zhao nearby offers absolute security, but when Lu Zhao is around, it’s usually because there’s a pressing reason requiring his presence, whether in dire situations or major events.

And when Zhou He is around...

She glanced at Zhou He’s cheerful, Buddha-like face.

It usually means peace and tranquility, nothing happening.

It truly feels endearing.

"Mommy~ Mommy!"

It just so happens to be the weekend. When the car arrived at the old Jing residence, Shi Su saw Mianmian bounding energetically towards her, quickly opening her arms to scoop up her little darling, showering her with kisses and nibbles. Smelling the milky scent on Mianmian’s body, it felt completely grounding and real.

It’s truly odd, the child is over six years old, about to start school this fall, and stopped breastfeeding when she was just over a year old. Yet she somehow always carries a milky scent that smells better than any shower gel or baby cream.

"Hehe, Mommy, you’re tickling me!" Mianmian giggled, trying to shrink her neck as Shi Su kissed and sniffed her, but also hugged and clung onto Shi Su’s neck, laughing playfully.

"Mommy, one more kiss, one more, let’s sleep together tonight, okay?" Shi Su wholeheartedly wanted to have a mother-daughter world with Mianmian, ignoring everything else. Nothing, not the capital city nor the Shi Family, is as important as her little Mianmian and Mianmian’s daddy.

Mianmian nodded vigorously, hugged Shi Su’s neck, and they exchanged kisses for quite a while, with Mr. Jing and Mrs. Jing walking over without interrupting. Mrs. Jing smiled and said, "It’s good to be home, it’s good to be home. Mianmian has been waking up crying at night lately, saying she misses Daddy and Mommy. She’s finally wished you back."

Shi Su stroked Mianmian’s head, whispering in her ear, "Mommy will reduce work and spend more time with you, okay?"

"Alright! What about Daddy?" Mianmian turned her little head toward Jing Jihan, extending her little hand to wave in the air, "Daddy, Daddy!"

Jing Jihan accepted Mianmian’s outstretched hand, gave it a kiss, pretending not to hear what the mother-daughter pair were whispering about earlier, asking knowingly, "What does Daddy do?"

"Will Daddy stay at home with Mommy and Mianmian~" As Mianmian spoke, she tried to nuzzle closer.

Shi Su moved her forward, originally intending for Mianmian to smoothly be carried by Jing Jihan. However, she paused, considering Jing Jihan’s earlier leap from the third floor with her, though not suffering fractures, he endured many bruises, and despite resting well, he should still be cautious.

Even with her brief hesitation, Jing Jihan had already received Mianmian, who promptly gave him a sweet kiss on the cheek, her little eyes sparkling with pride to finally be in Daddy’s embrace.

Mr. Li and Hui had already called for someone to take the luggage, chatting amicably while praising Mianmian for being exceptionally sensible, always greeting the servants, uncles, and aunts in the house. Seeing a weary servant, she’d pour them water, often tiptoeing into the kitchen to help Hui wrap dumplings, though they end up looking like none of a kind yet Mr. Jing and Mrs. Jing relish them. When Mr. Jing takes her to visit family and friends, she proactively greets the elders, embodying politeness and cuteness, which makes Mr. Jing’s esteemed old friends envious.

Upon hearing this, Mr. Jing, who was smiling beside them, couldn’t help but beam with pride, clearly showing the glow of prolonged admiration and defiant smugness on his face.

Mrs. Jing, standing nearby, shot him a look, suddenly slapping his arm.

Mr. Jing immediately turned his gaze, ready to flare up, but upon meeting her gaze, his eyebrows twitched slightly, restraining himself, and didn’t act out. Instead, he huffed, continuing to look at his beloved great-granddaughter merrily.

This season in Jiang City is a bit damp and chilly. Mianmian had rushed out of the main hall not wearing much, and thus Jing Jihan took her back to the main hall.

While walking back to the main hall, Shi Su glanced at Mr. Jing and Mrs. Jing before turning her curious gaze toward Hui.

Hui made a subtle face and motioned with her lips expressing they were used to it.

Shi Su, surprised, mouthed: "Has Grandma been living at home recently?"

Hui nodded, also mouthing the reply: "Yes!"

Shi Su immediately chuckled, whispered to Hui, "So Grandma doesn’t plan on leaving anymore?"

Hui: "More likely. From what I see, although Mrs. Jing still scolds Mr. Jing daily, his temper used to subdue considerably, yielding to her. They’ve been apart for over twenty years, and now both over eighty, probably just want to stop torturing each other and enjoy their golden years together, it’s a good thing..."

Saying this, Hui again waved her hand, "But let’s not expose it. Otherwise, for the sake of pride, the old couple might still fight. Let’s just pretend not to notice they’ve reconciled quietly."

Shi Su laughed, lowering her voice in jest, "I see Grandpa has mellowed a lot nowadays."

Hui clucked twice, "Indeed, only his wife by his side can truly reign him in."
