Chapter 394: Chapter 394 - 388: Mr. Jing, Is Your Interest Not in the Wine...
Shi Su was still munching on popcorn and was occasionally asked by Wei Sinan about the upcoming plot.
The woman shook her head and said, "No spoilers, just watch if you want to, don’t ask me."
Wei Sinan reached into the popcorn bucket in Shi Su’s arms, grabbed a piece, and threw it into his mouth, smiling as he continued to watch. However, he kept leaning close to Shi Su’s ear, asking whether certain scenes were particularly difficult to shoot and if a certain prop was real or fake. He stopped asking about the plot and began discussing the cast and props in her production crew.
Shi Su chatted with him while snacking on popcorn, and soon half an hour had passed. The plot was getting more intense and thrilling. Most of the audience in the cinema held their breath, and Shi Su was no exception because she vividly remembered some of these scenes.
Zhou He wasn’t paying attention to the front; he also had a bucket of popcorn, which he obviously bought himself. When purchasing, he had asked Mr. Jing if he wanted some, but the big boss, who had invited him to the cinema, didn’t touch Zhou He’s popcorn and treated him like he was invisible.
Zhou He had no choice but to eat by himself while focusing on the plot. Every couple of minutes, he was amazed by Shi Su’s acting and couldn’t help but try to discuss the plot with Mr. Jing. After a few sentences without a response, Zhou He had to pout and focused on his popcorn.
"No wonder the movie’s box office has been great since it premiered. The plot is really superb, and Shi Su’s acting is amazing, haha..." After a while, the bored Zhou He awkwardly chatted and laughed next to him.
He glanced at Mr. Jing and instantly couldn’t laugh anymore.
Is this watching a movie?
Or is this working overtime?
It’s definitely overtime, right?
Mr. Jing’s expression was even colder than when he was in the office, as if some terribly bad luck had befallen Zhou He, getting him drafted by Mr. Jing into the cinema...
The plot suddenly hit a comedic moment, and the whole room erupted in laughter. Wei Sinan, laughing, whispered a few words into Shi Su’s ear, and Shi Su laughed along, continuing to pull her cap down lower for fear the surrounding audience would recognize her as the woman in the sudden comedic scene.
Zhou He finally noticed that Jing Jihan’s eyes weren’t on the big screen. He followed his line of sight to spot two familiar heads in the third last row.
One of them looked familiar.
No matter who it was, right now the person on the screen was Shi Su. Mr. Jing had come to the cinema with injuries, but instead of watching Shi Su on the screen, why was he staring at the backs of these two heads? Shouldn’t he be watching Shi Su?
Unless...
Zhou He’s eyelid twitched, and he took another better look at one of the heads.
My god!
Zhou He almost crushed the popcorn he was holding, his face filled with terror as he suddenly sat up straight, looking in shock from Shi Su’s direction to Jing Jihan.
Who was that next to Shi Su? It was a man, that was for sure...
"Mr. Jing, are your intentions elsewhere?" Zhou He muttered quietly, stuffing the nearly crushed popcorn into his mouth.
The air fell into an eerie silence. Zhou He realized his previous words were a death wish, so he tried to say something to save face.
But still, silence prevailed.
Alright.
Today, he rammed right into the firing line, and it was a silenced gun, killing silently.
Zhou He took the opportunity to slip out, pretending to go to the restroom, but he didn’t dare to escape, planning to return after a while.
When he returned a few minutes later, he found that Mr. Jing was gone.
Upon looking carefully, he noticed that Mr. Jing had moved to sit directly in the second-to-last row, right behind Shi Su.
Zhou He quickly scooched over, sat beside him, and whispered very quietly, "Mr. Jing, why did you change seats..."
Jing Jihan ignored him at first, then after a moment said, "The back row is too far; I can’t see clearly."
Zhou He: "???"
You picked the last row yourself, there are empty seats in the front rows, why don’t you go?
He didn’t dare say anything, only accompanied Mr. Jing in sitting behind the two heads. Now that they were closer, he could hear what the two people were saying.
Wei Sinan: "The director’s visual composition is very professional. He’s considered a rising star in the circle, and choosing you from among many TV actors to make this movie shows his keen eye. This type of role in the entire entertainment industry, apart from veteran actors, very few young actors can perform this well."
Shi Su: "Not bad, but this director is much stricter than Mr. Li from ’Shadow Kill.’ He’s especially strict. Some actors were publicly scolded for being tardy twice due to scheduling clashes, no matter how famous they were."
Wei Sinan: "That’s professional ethics for you. Nowadays, the focus has shifted more towards reality TV and less on acting. Directors truly dedicated to making great films have a hard time tolerating this shift. It’s not wrong to scold them."
Shi Su laughed and tossed another piece of popcorn into her mouth: "Since you’ve watched it, don’t just heap praise. Tell me honestly, how do you find it?"
Wei Sinan: "It’s beautiful."
Shi Su: "?"
"On-screen or off, TV or cinema, you always stand out," Wei Sinan said with a grin.
Shi Su paused momentarily, then turned back to continue watching the screen: "Your flirting skills are wasted on me."
Wei Sinan nodded, thoroughly agreeing: "You’re right. If I flirted with other girls, I’d probably already have kids."
Shi Su chuckled, feeling her hands sticky from the popcorn, decided to go wash them. She handed back the popcorn bucket to him and got up to leave the theater.
The cinema’s restroom wasn’t in great shape, so Shi Su quickly washed her hands and left. There were people coming and going, and she realized she forgot her mask when she stepped out and opted to keep her head down as she walked back.
Just as she was about to reach the entrance to the theater, she suddenly saw someone walking towards her. She slowed her steps, intending to let them pass, only to find they didn’t move aside; she almost bumped right into them.
Shi Su was momentarily surprised, wanting to apologize, but not wearing a mask meant she feared being recognized by passersby, so she decided against it. As she was about to step back discreetly, suddenly her hat was pushed down, the brim nearly covering half her face.
"Don’t move."
Just as Shi Su was instinctively about to lift her hat, the person pressed her into their arms and moved to a dimly lit corner by the theater door.
Shi Su’s mind went blank because the voice belonged to Jing Jihan.
Her view was blocked by the hat brim, and she hadn’t processed why he would be here in the middle of the night until she realized someone about ten meters away was holding up a phone trying to secretly photograph her—
