Chapter 391: Chapter 391 - 385: Though One Should Repay a Life-Saving Kindness Generously

Early the next morning, Shi Su was hugged by Mianmian’s little hands. The mother and daughter hid under the quilt, giggling and whispering for a while until Mrs. Qin called Mianmian to get up, wash, eat, and go to kindergarten.

Shi Su was running late to make breakfast for the master at Kaixing Mansion, so she simply bought breakfast nearby and took it with her.

A few restaurants near Kaixing Mansion had changed owners, but some were still operating like they did two years ago, and the taste remained unchanged.

As soon as she entered with breakfast, she forgot about the carpet right in front of the shoe mat inside Jing Jihan’s door. She tripped over the carpet’s edge the moment she stepped in, and to prevent the breakfast from spilling, she raised the bag high subconsciously, ending up falling on her knees with a thud.

Jing Jihan happened to be passing the living room with a glass of water. When he turned and saw Shi Su at the door, he said, "Though saving one’s life deserves a big thank you, there’s no need to kneel before me."

After speaking, the man took a sip of water, calmly put down the glass, and walked over to help her.

Before he could reach her, Shi Su had already stood up swiftly, as if she hadn’t heard his teasing, and proceeded to deliver the breakfast to the table.

The carpet in Jing Jihan’s home used to only surround the sofa and the coffee table. Later, because Mianmian often came to play and liked rolling around on the carpet, two particularly large rugs were added. Although someone regularly cleaned the house, all the furnishings remained unchanged, including those two rugs that extended almost to the door.

"I spent some time with Mianmian this morning and handled some matters, so it was too late to cook. I bought breakfast, just have something simple."

Jing Jihan didn’t seem to mind. Being a convalescent, he could afford to enjoy his meals and rest. Sitting at the table, he glanced at her.

"I ate breakfast earlier with Mianmian and Mrs. Qin," Shi Su said as she opened the takeout boxes and pushed them to him, observing his eating movements to assess whether his injuries had improved.

After breakfast, Jing Jihan received a phone call. Then, he took a tablet and sat on the sofa to review company documents. She went over to take his temperature to prevent any fever caused by inflammation, lifting his collar to check the surrounding redness of the wound. It looked much better than yesterday; although the surface was still the same, the surrounding redness had reduced. It seemed the family doctor called in yesterday did a good job.

While helping Jing Jihan change clothes, she noticed bluish-purple marks on the back of his hand where a needle had been. It was likely either he accidentally hit it during an injection or it happened while bathing last night, as she was more focused on the wound on his back at the time.

Shi Su went to wash a towel with hot water, intending to apply a hot compress to his hand. Observing the man remained unaffected while still reviewing the tablet’s content, she realized he had become accustomed to her care.

Feeling a bit ruthless, she used even hotter water this time and pressed the towel on his hand. When the man turned his gaze toward her from the heat, she immediately realized she shouldn’t hold a grudge against someone injured and waited for the towel’s heat to diminish before continuing.

At this moment, her phone vibrated in the bag. Shi Su put down the towel to answer it, finding it was a call from Li Chuyi, asking if she planned to drive herself to the set tomorrow or needed the studio car for transport.

Currently, Shi Su’s foot made it inconvenient for her to drive.

After confirming transportation for tomorrow, she hung up and placed the phone on the coffee table, picked up the towel, and headed back to the bathroom.

While Shi Su was still in the bathroom, the phone buzzed again with a call.

Inside, she couldn’t hear it, and after vibrating for a long time, it stopped, only to start buzzing again after a dozen or so seconds.

Jing Jihan’s gaze moved from his tablet to the phone on the coffee table, where it displayed Cen Jun’s name.

Shi Su returned, hearing the phone still vibrating, and hurried over to answer it.

Two minutes later, Shi Su set the phone down, noticing Jing Jihan sitting quietly on the sofa. No matter the situation, he remained particularly aloof and serious while working. She casually picked up a magazine, sat on the carpet just like Mianmian, and after reading a bit, lay down on the carpet, holding the magazine up high to read.

She realized that caring for him at his house wasn’t as troublesome as at the hospital. If she had known, she would’ve brought the script along. Without the script in hand, she had little interest in the finance magazine.

After flipping through for about ten minutes, Shi Su dozed off with the magazine in her arms.

Returning to the set for filming, she inevitably got asked by everyone about what happened in Hong Kong.

The high-profile murder case at the Zijin Flower Hotel had significant repercussions. Some gossip had also spread inland, especially since Shi Su, a popular mainland actress, was affected at the scene and injured her foot. Various versions were already making rounds in entertainment media.

After a full day of filming, as evening approached and they prepared to wrap up, Miss Chen sent her a report.

"The box office for ’Reverse Flow’ is impressive, surpassing 700 million in just three days, a remarkable achievement for the National Day release. The film company arranged for an online livestream tonight to thank fans and boost promotions. Freshen up with some makeup and clothes, and head to the livestream, which is just an hour from 7 PM to 8 PM."

Glancing at the livestream platform’s info, Shi Su saw it was Weibo’s official platform.

It was already past five, and she initially planned to return and head to Kaixing Mansion to make dinner for the injured Jing Boss. Now it seemed Hui would have to help out again.

Worried about time constraints, eager to remove her makeup, Shi Su asked Li Chuyi to call Hui and then turned to the dressing room.

...

At seven in the evening, Shi Su, along with Li Linyu, the male lead from the currently airing film "Reverse Flow", arrived at Jiang City CBD Building and engaged with fans in the livestream room.

The scenes for the male and female leads in this movie were balanced, with no distinguished lead, so both shared the same publicity schedule.

However, with ladies first, Shi Su scanned through the barrage of comments during the livestream, picked a few interesting questions to answer, and then cued to her male co-lead, Li Linyu, to let him take over answering. Meanwhile, as it was the male lead’s turn, she noticed Li Chuyi signaling her while pointing at her phone.

Although still within the livestream, if Li Chuyi specifically pointed at the phone, there must be important news.

The current livestream environment was quite relaxed; artists could take a break when not answering questions or check their phones. Shi Su glanced back at the comments. Seeing most discussions about the male lead, she allowed Li Chuyi to bring her the phone.
