Chapter 388: Chapter 388 - 382: The Password Hasn’t Changed
Standing in front of the door, Shi Su glanced at the password lock at the entrance and asked, "What’s the password?"
"It hasn’t changed."
Shi Su: "?"
Why hasn’t the password changed?
It’s been so long.
She hesitated, raising her hand to enter the password, but her finger inadvertently brushed the fingerprint scanner, and the door opened immediately.
Has my fingerprint not been deleted?
Shi Su looked at the password lock in surprise.
The man walked right in as the door opened, threw down a line indifferently before she could ask, "I haven’t stayed here often over the past two years, I forgot to change it."
Shi Su: "...Oh."
After Jing Jihan entered, he seemed to want to sit over by the sofa, but it was apparent that this place indeed hadn’t been lived in for a long time. Although a cleaning lady came regularly to tidy up, keeping the room spotlessly clean, Shi Su could feel a weird emptiness and lack of warmth as soon as the door was opened.
So Jing Jihan saying he barely came back here these past two years was true.
Kaixing Mansion is the closest, most convenient, and comfortable place near his company. Since he doesn’t stay here, where has he been these two years?
Maybe the legendary Nanshan Villa at Li Lake Bay?
Or staying at the office...
Shi Su hesitated briefly and didn’t continue to ponder, instead, she walked over and asked him, "Did Lu Zhao really go to Africa? He didn’t even meet up with us when he got back from Hong Kong. You don’t have much luggage, I’ll just leave it here for now."
The man turned to glance at her, seeing her standing awkwardly in a place once so familiar, he said nothing, just gestured with his eyes that she could leave it.
Though there was heavy rain in Hong Kong a few days ago, Jiang City had already entered autumn. It seemed like Jiang City had rain recently too, but probably not heavy, as water traces along the roadside weren’t obvious, and the air was filled with the scent of early autumn.
Shi Su went to open the window for some air, then checked the time. Having just rushed back from Hong Kong today and despite being on the same flight as Jing Jihan, Miss Chen and Chujiao had left ahead of her after landing, taking her luggage to the studio with them.
She turned back towards the man already seated on the sofa: "I need to go get a new SIM card and grab some stuff. Do you need anything? It’s three in the afternoon now, I should be back before dark."
As she spoke, she walked right up to the sofa.
Seeing Jing Jihan sitting there with eyes closed, looking a bit weary, it was evident that even though he tried not to move his shoulder much on the journey back, after such a long trip and being on a plane and car, comfort was hard to come by. After all, he was still recovering, his shoulder and back wound was deep, and the doctor said he’d need several days to regain strength due to blood loss.
He might need to rest a bit.
Shi Su didn’t disturb him further, knowing he heard what she said earlier anyway.
Getting a replacement SIM card was quick and easy, but she needed to handle some issues at the studio, and deal with a series of news sparked by the chandelier incident at the Zijin Flower Hotel which included reports about Shi Su, causing many fans to worry about her injury.
However, Shi Su couldn’t bring herself to manage these during her stay in Hong Kong, her Weibo was already a mess.
The studio’s Weibo was bombarded by tens of thousands of comments from her fans, scolding them for not protecting Shi Su well.
Adding to that, the film "Reverse Flow," released yesterday on National Day, had good word of mouth and box office, pushing Shi Su’s popularity onto trending searches again, causing a mix of praise and backlash battling online, creating a chaotic scene.
As the person involved, Shi Su had to comfort her fans.
After a brief meeting back at the studio, Jun insisted on checking her foot injury, and once assured it wasn’t a big deal, the studio used Shi Su’s Weibo to post a long message with pictures, reassuring fans and explaining the events of that night at Zijin Flower Hotel, officially reporting on Shi Su’s safety status before she could leave the studio.
Although the injury on her foot wasn’t severe, and walking wouldn’t impact her much as long as she wore comfortable shoes, for safety reasons, she didn’t drive and took a cab to the supermarket near Kaixing Mansion.
Before leaving earlier, even though she didn’t check the kitchen, she assumed with Jing Jihan gone for so long, there likely wouldn’t be any food at home.
While pushing a cart around the supermarket, Shi Su wore a mask and hat, deliberately turning her back to others, unsure if a paparazzo might secretly photograph her.
For the past two years, due to the busy schedule of filming and events, with Mrs. Qin and Mrs Zhang around at home, she rarely cooked anymore, often eating with the crew or having takeout with the studio team.
Indeed, it had been a long while since she last wandered a supermarket.
She bought a lot of groceries, oil, salt, sauces, including seasonings, and at checkout, she kept her head down and hat brim low, fiddling with the self-checkout machine for a while before finally leaving the supermarket smoothly.
Unexpectedly, she was still photographed, and later that night a gossip account posted pictures of her shopping alone in a supermarket from a distance. The post speculated that Shi Su’s never-seen husband might have returned to the country, seeing as she went shopping alone for many household supplies and food, as if preparing to settle down.
However, since the photos only showed her shopping alone, it only sparked mild speculation, without causing any major scandal, and after a few posts from the gossip accounts, it didn’t spread much further.
Shi Su had no idea she’d been photographed but was cautious after leaving the supermarket. Already near Kaixing Mansion, she still took a cab for a roundabout trip, walking down a back street at Kaixing Mansion for a bit to avoid the crowd before going in.
Being trailed by fans and paparazzi had become usual after her rise, maneuvering like this daily became an inevitable part of life. She grew accustomed to it, yet preferred Kaixing Mansion to remain undisturbed.
When Shi Su entered the house, dusk was just falling outside.
Assuming Jing Jihan might be resting, she was surprised to see the study door open, the light on inside when she walked in. She saw the man was on a video call, from her angle at the door she couldn’t see if he looked any better.
She gently knocked on the study door, Jing Jihan couldn’t turn his head easily, but the chair could swivel. Taking advantage of the chair’s rotating, Shi Su lifted her shopping bags, signaling with her eyes, asking if he was hungry.
But the man merely looked at her deeply low hat and mask, guessed how annoying it had been for her to shop with them on, and instead of answering, he asked, "Aren’t you taking off the mask yet? Aren’t you feeling stuffy?"
Shi Su had forgotten and quickly removed her hat and mask, not minding if he’d answered or not. Noticing the curious glances of company executives towards the video direction, she swiftly moved away from the study door and headed straight to the kitchen with the stuff.
