Chapter 378: Chapter 378 - 372: Why Did Mr. Jing Suddenly...

"Jing... Jihan..."

Shi Su stared at him woodenly, firmly believing that this was just a dream, her voice as she spoke was almost a murmur.

Even though she had hit her head on the ground when she fell just now, now it hurt and buzzed in her mind, the sound around her head was too noisy, it was like her small world had been firmly sheltered by the man on top of her, not even a shard of lamp glass could harm her.

But there was far too much blood on her body now, almost soaking through her light-colored clothes.

Yet she wasn’t injured, not even a cut. Without that pain, does that mean this is just a dream?

"Has the ambulance arrived..."

"Quick, get people out, the old lady and her grandchildren are underneath..."

"Is that Mr. Jing? Wasn’t he just at the front earlier? How suddenly is he here?!"

"Hurry, save people—"

It seemed like the birthday-celebrating old lady and her family were right in the center, and the smell of blood on the ground seemed overwhelmingly strong, more than one person was injured by the fall.

The crowd was still saying something, but Shi Su couldn’t hear clearly.

She just tried hard to lift her hand, but could only slightly move her wrist in the end, because the lamp pressing on them was too heavy, the lamp was shattered, but the metal was still large and heavy, especially since it had fallen from the third-floor ceiling.

Everyone understood that tonight there might be a fatality here.

Shi Su’s trembling hand grabbed Jing Jihan’s arm, wanting to speak yet finding numerous things stuck in her throat, as if speaking would only lead to a fearful whimper.

Finally, when someone hurriedly moved the lamp off them and helped the person on her up, Shi Su quickly climbed to her feet, seeing that Jing Jihan seemed to have already closed his eyes. She ignored the high heels that had fallen off her feet and the fragments all over the ground, turning to run over the shards.

"Wait a moment..."

Shi Su seemed to hear Jing Jihan’s voice, she abruptly rushed forward, seeing the man who had been helped onto a stretcher by the doctors, and saw that the stretcher under him was almost instantly stained red.

"Take her... too..." The man, with closed eyes and a face as exhausted as it was pale, seeming to have no strength left, yet could accurately find the direction of Shi Su’s voice, lightly lifted his hand, indicating for them to take her away as well.

The two doctors glanced quickly at the blood on Shi Su’s body, momentarily unsure if she was also injured or what, so they directly helped her out too.

As she was being placed onto the ambulance, Shi Su staggered and pounced to the side of the stretcher pushed into the vehicle, seeing the blood continuously flowing from the man’s neck, she tightly grasped his shoulder with her hand, as if finding her voice only then, cursing angrily and anxiously, "Jing Jihan, are you crazy, do you not want to live?!"

"Miss, miss, take it easy when pulling him..." The doctors and nurses in the vehicle, seeing her approach drenched in blood didn’t seem like she was crying for help, but rather seemed as though she wished to stab him once more, hurriedly moved forward to pull her away.

Shi Su didn’t let go, with gritted teeth, still in shock, yet scolded harshly, "I warn you, if you dare to die, I won’t let you off!"

Jing Jihan, with a pale face, forced open his eyes to see her fierce expression, suddenly coughed, his voice low and hoarse to the point it was almost a breath, "Fine, I won’t let you off either."

Was he hit on the head and muddled?

What did he mean by he wouldn’t let her off?

Wasn’t he someone who didn’t even want to mention her name? Didn’t he look down on her current actions?

The man closed his eyes again, didn’t make another sound, Shi Su almost shouted as she lay on the stretcher in the car, "Jing Jihan!"

Jing Jihan took a breath, with closed eyes, he said with some effort, "Still not dead, save your strength to shout once I’m dead..."

The paramedics preparing emergency treatment beside them looked at her strangely, originally thinking that this lady was injured and brought on the vehicle, but she shouted with such a powerful voice, clearly uninjured, at most she stepped onto some broken shards with her foot.

Shi Su didn’t speak any further either, retreating to not obstruct the doctors’ treatment, but seating herself backward in the vehicle, headed from the Zijin Flower Hotel to the hospital along the way, the sirens of police cars and ambulances intertwined.

Jing Jihan didn’t make another sound, Shi Su kept turning her eyes to look at the man who was having his bleeding staunched by the doctors, working hard to observe the rise and fall of his chest; if she didn’t see his breathing for a few seconds, she felt so stressed as though she was about to suffocate from within.

Finally, upon reaching the hospital, Shi Su paid no attention to her face covered in blood in the midst of the crowd. She had realized earlier on the car that she was missing a shoe, simply removed the other one as well, and followed the emergency bed barefoot to the ER entrance.

It was not until the medical staff blocked her from entering that Shi Su stopped, her gaze fixed on the man being wheeled inside.

She knew that pleading with the doctors to save his life at a critical moment like this was useless, but sometimes people can’t control the impulse to spout nonsense.

Before Jing Jihan was pushed into the emergency room with closed eyes, he said softly, "Don’t worry, I’m not going to die."

The words that had just reached Shi Su’s lips were swallowed back down, and she stayed silent once more.

Watching the ER doors open and close again, Shi Su stood outside, her dazed expression disrupted by the hurried footsteps and cries behind her, turning to see other injured people being brought to the same hospital.

The crowd of crying people included many she had seen at the banquet hall tonight, their beautiful evening dresses stained with blood, so horrifically wretched.

She didn’t know if those from the film company were injured, but all she could do now was to stand there like a piece of wood floating aimlessly on the sea.

Terror.

Confusion.

Puzzlement.

Various emotions overwhelmed her.

The hospital’s first-floor lobby was somewhat chaotic now, with many people, even though she was covered with a lot of blood, the medical staff could not attend to her at the moment.

It wasn’t until someone finally noticed her standing pale-faced and covered in blood in front of the ER doors over an hour later.

"Miss, is your foot cut? Let me take you to the room for dressing," a nurse approached to help her.

Suddenly, the ER doors opened, Shi Su turned around to look inside the first chance she got, saw Jing Jihan being wheeled out, hurriedly stepped forward again.

But the man was unconscious at this moment.

The doctor, seeing she was still there, walked up to her to reassure her, "We need to remove the shards from the injury on the patient’s back, disinfect the wound, and suture it. The nonstop bleeding was because the wound was deep, but fortunately, it didn’t damage nerves or bones. We’ve given him an anesthetic, he’ll wake up in about four or five hours, and it will be alright, please rest assured."

It was at this moment that Shi Su finally calmed her racing heartbeat, looking at the man sleeping with eyes closed, she nodded dully, the nurse intending to lead her away to dress the wound on her foot, she nodded too.

It was as if her departed soul finally returned to her body, finally able to breathe a sigh of relief.
