Chapter 369: Chapter 369 - 363: The Man’s Arm from Behind Her Ear...
The beads of water not yet dry slid down the man’s perfectly toned upper body until they vanished into the edge of the white towel.
Jing Jihan had just come out of the shower, towel in hand, still drying his damp hair, when he suddenly collided with the woman who appeared in his room. The moment their eyes met, Shi Su quickly averted her gaze, but under the light, the blush rising swiftly on her face was not hard to discern, even spreading rapidly to her ears.
Jing Jihan let his gaze linger on her for a second, then glanced at the spare room card in her hand, and walked directly towards her with the towel.
"Don’t come any closer!" Shi Su initially turned her face away, but upon hearing the man approaching, she urgently raised her hand to cover half of her eyes and simply turned her body away completely.
The man’s cold eyes fell softly on her: "How did you end up here?"
Shi Su furrowed her brows, gritting her teeth as she replied, "How should I know how I got here?"
As she spoke, she secretly glanced at the room from the corner of her eye: "Isn’t this my room? The film company booked it for me!"
Jing Jihan was silent for a moment, observing her tense, turned posture, then said calmly, "Do you plan to keep talking to me with your back turned? Turn around, it’s not like I haven’t seen you before."
Shi Su: "..."
In an instant, she lowered her hand which was covering half of her eyes and gently clenched her fists.
Yes, right, it’s not like I haven’t seen him before, we’ve even slept together; even though we’ve broken up, we’re all adults, what’s there to... avoid?
That’s what she thought, but as soon as she turned back swiftly, the moment her eyes collided with the man’s well-defined chest and that ever-perfect face that delivered a visual impact, her gaze paused slightly. Although her body faced him, she still subtly avoided by looking to a cabinet beside him.
"Show me the room card." The man didn’t intend to waste any words.
Shi Su raised her hand to pass him the room card while still fixating on the wall cabinet beside him, not shifting her gaze at all, yet spoke, "Can you put on clothes before you talk?"
Jing Jihan glanced at the spare room card in his hand, his eyes depths calm and indifferent, hard to read any emotion from. At the same time, because of her words, he shot her a faint look: "I was just showering, and then you suddenly barged into my room; I’m already quite decent with a towel on. From what standpoint do you demand I get dressed?"
Shi Su closed her eyes briefly, abruptly directing her gaze onto his face, sensibly retorting, "The film company booked this room for me! I didn’t barge in!"
The man handed the card back to her without much expression: "You came to the wrong room."
Shi Su: "..."
How could she possibly get the wrong room?
Didn’t the film company pre-book the room with her identification? And this being the 22nd floor, how could she have made a mistake?
She inexplicably snatched the room card back from him forcefully, glancing down at it before looking up again, "Room 2210, I didn’t go to the wrong room!"
This woman’s notably confident yet stubborn temperament kicked in, making any further explanation pointless; Jing Jihan didn’t bother to argue with her, instead, he turned to fetch his room card expressionlessly when suddenly the room doorbell rang, rapidly as if in a hurry.
Shi Su finally had the chance to shift her focus from the man, turned around, and swiftly ran to open the door.
As soon as the door opened, she saw a hotel staff member wearing a uniform, with a badge stating "Lobby Manager" hanging on their chest, apologetically saying, "Sorry, miss, are you the one who took the spare room card earlier? Our front desk staff mistook your identity and gave you the room card without verifying your information. They mistakenly gave you the wrong card, miss, you’re not supposed to be in room 2210, that card belongs to another lady."
Shi Su, who had always believed her Mandarin was fine, suddenly found herself entangled by the hotel manager’s clearly articulated words.
What does it mean by mistaking someone? What does it mean by giving the wrong card? What does it mean that she isn’t supposed to be in this room, and the card actually belongs to another lady?
If she really had gone to the wrong room, wasn’t this Jing Jihan’s room?
Where did this other lady come from?
She didn’t react immediately and stared at the hotel manager outside the door until her slightly frozen mind suddenly realized something, and a hand reached out from the inside directly closing the door.
The dark-colored room door blocked her view once more, which instantly made her aware of the man’s presence behind her.
She jolted her gaze around, nearly bumping into the man.
She gazed at him with alert eyes, glancing sideways and saw the man’s arm retreating from the door beside her ear and her cheek, only after withdrawing to a moderate distance did she feel her mind clearing somewhat.
Shi Su’s lips suddenly curved slightly, looking at the man without any emotional hue in her eyes, "Did you hear that? It’s the hotel’s mistake giving me the wrong room card, I accidentally took another lady’s spare room card! The responsibility does not lie with me, this fault isn’t directed by me, if you want to pursue this issue, look for the hotel!"
Another lady.
These key words made the smile on Shi Su’s face grow, her eyes darker, seemingly bottomless; she turned her attention away and moved to open the door to leave. Leaving directly, without saying unnecessary words like "sorry for disturbing your time with another lady".
As she was about to reopen the door, suddenly her wrist was grabbed by a large hand, pulling her back.
The force was substantial, she couldn’t dodge in time.
The doorbell was still ringing, the hotel manager outside persistently pressing the doorbell trying to make her leave; Shi Su heard the pressing doorbell on one side, while on the other side, she staggered being forcibly dragged from the door by Jing Jihan.
Shi Su’s mind still remembered Jing Jihan’s rejection of her and even her name, not processing immediately, she turned to the man who suddenly pulled her back, "What are you doin..."
"Seeking responsibility from the hotel is inevitable, but not now." The man released her hand after taking her away from the door, speaking coldly, "I often stay here on business trips to Hong Kong, and have never encountered this situation, nor have I ever had any cohabitants."
Shi Su’s gaze remained unchanged, but she clearly didn’t want to be too close to him, especially with the man undressed on the upper body, the prolonged absence of his presence felt too close; she moved aside two steps, maintaining distance.
Seeing her retreat, Jing Jihan didn’t speak, but he finally graciously picked up the shirt from the sofa and put it on, although unbuttoned, it at least made Shi Su feel her breath slightly more at ease.
The faint warmth beneath the skin also finally had the chance to slowly recede.
