Chapter 351: Chapter 351 - 345: Isn’t It Thrilling?

The next day, at the HBD Film and Television Center in Jiang City.

Last night, Shi Su stayed up late with Mianmian folding paper; the little one had napped earlier, so she was full of energy and wouldn’t sleep until they finished all the folding.

By the time Shi Su finally showered and got into bed, it was already past one in the middle of the night.

She got up before six in the morning, and although Shi Su wore light makeup, it couldn’t hide the fact that she hadn’t slept well for several days.

A can of coffee was suddenly handed to her, and Shi Su turned to see Wei Sinan, who had somehow showed up at the Film and Television Center.

"Haven’t been sleeping well lately?" Wei Sinan pushed the can of coffee toward her again.

Seeing that he had another can in his other hand, Shi Su didn’t stand on ceremony and reached out to take it: "Yeah, lots of things going on lately. Why are you here? Isn’t the wrap-up for your film still a few days away?"

"It’s almost wrapped up, and afterwards, I’ll join the shoot for ’Shadow Kill.’ There are two shows to attend at HBD these days, and unlike your studio, my company isn’t as free. Some promotional variety shows are unavoidable."

As Wei Sinan spoke, he casually opened his can of coffee, took a sip, and stood at the observatory on the top floor of the HBD Film and Television Center, looking out at the bustling scenery of Jiang City through the glass windows. Sunlight streamed in, falling on both their shoulders.

Earlier, Shi Su was feeling a bit sleepy, so she came to the top-floor observatory to get some fresh air.

"But the variety shows you’re on are quite good at attracting fans, and they have a nice reputation," Shi Su said as she sipped her can of coffee. The coffee was cold, likely from the vending machine she spotted on her way up.

Wei Sinan smirked: "I looked closely at the shooting schedule for ’Shadow Kill’ the other day. Although the initial filming cycle involves endless running between sets, it gets easier after a month. Want to take some time and join me for a variety show?"

Shi Su, to this day, has never participated in any variety shows. Wei Sinan knew she didn’t partake in such activities, rarely appearing in media outside of her acting projects, yet it didn’t stop her shows from being popular or fans and the media from showering her with attention.

She chuckled lightly: "You’ve been on quite a few variety shows yourself. What show prompted you to personally invite me? Let me guess, is there any type you haven’t been on yet? Those awkward romance reality shows between male and female stars?"

Wei Sinan raised an eyebrow, not refuting, which meant she was spot on.

Shi Su burst out laughing: "Come on, who in and out of the industry doesn’t know I’m ’married’? How could I possibly join a reality show about romance? Even scripted romance doesn’t suit me."

"I think this could be an opportunity for you to clarify to the public that you’re only a mother, not married," Wei Sinan leaned against the railing of the observatory, turning to her: "Since your child’s father has never appeared, and you have no history of marriage, why fabricate a persona that doesn’t benefit you, affecting your future romantic prospects and career?"

Shi Su drank her coffee, not replying.

Wei Sinan watched her for a moment, then placed his coffee can aside, leaned closer until he was nearly touching her ear, and whispered, "I’m glad I’m one of the few who knows this secret. Since you never give me a chance, why not join me for a romance reality show? Even if it’s scripted, or are you too afraid to participate?"

"Your reverse psychology doesn’t work on me, my persona is too ingrained. Right now in the industry, when it comes to Shi Su, who doesn’t know I’m ’married’?" Shi Su turned her head aside, giving him a glance to step back.

Wei Sinan pulled away, leaning back against the railing, glancing at her: "Fake is still fake. No one has ever captured your non-existent husband, only occasionally your daughter, but her face is always blurred out. Since nobody can capture this non-existent person, clarifying and explaining this isn’t that difficult for you."

Shi Su gently swirled the half-full can of coffee: "I quite like my current situation; at least at some unavoidable social events and dinners, because of this ’married’ status, no matter how much the investors drink, they won’t do anything inappropriate, which spares me a lot of trouble."

Knowing he couldn’t persuade her, when Shi Su is stubborn, there’s really nothing one can do.

Wei Sinan smiled, "I thought, since you don’t give me a chance in real life, having a scripted romance in a variety show is half-fulfilling."

"Now you’re just talking nonsense, a young master who might have to inherit billion-dollar fortunes if his acting fails, playing the victim with me?" Shi Su glanced at him: "I want to ask you, is chasing a ’married’ woman exciting?"

Wei Sinan smiled sincerely, not denying it: "Exciting."

Shi Su rolled her eyes at him, just as a message from Miss Chen popped up on her WeChat, asking her to return to the meeting room on the seventh floor of the HBD Film and Television Center.

She simply raised a hand as a goodbye gesture to Wei Sinan and turned towards the direction of the elevator.

"I’ve seen the information Mr. Cai sent about the ’Shadow Kill’ shooting team and cast; he even got a top-notch domestic post-production team. This film’s goal is awards," Jun said, looking at the details on her phone: "No wonder there was a half-year preparation period, and the actors’ resumes stacked mountains. If this movie succeeds, and if the box office is sufficient, winning Best Actor or Actress next year will be a breeze."

Shi Su was also looking at the information sent by Mr. Cai on her phone: "Mr. Cai has created a Best Actress before, hasn’t he? Didn’t a documentary film win an award two years ago? The lead actress was nominated, though she didn’t win in the end, but it showed his work has the potential."

"It’s because the lead actress only got a nomination that year that Mr. Cai is paying so much attention to ’Shadow Kill’ this year, particularly asking you to star as the lead actress. I think Mr. Cai wants you to win an award for him, maybe even give you a Best Actress crown."

"It’s not that easy; there’s no shortage of strong actors and good works in this industry. Breaking through is tough," Shi Su said, lowering her phone, "And the movie hasn’t even started shooting; everything is still up in the air. Also, what the future holds, none of us can tell."

"Does your ’future’ include a dazzling career? I see your desire to transition behind the scenes is quite urgent," Jun scoffed.
