Chapter 297: Chapter 297 - 293: That Child Really Resembled Jihan as a Kid

Mrs. Qin was holding Shi Mianmian’s little backpack behind her, having just picked Mianmian up from kindergarten.

Just as they were walking back near Kaixing Mansion, Shi Mianmian, who had been chattering away while holding her hand all along the way, suddenly turned and ran towards the flower bed.

Seeing this, Mrs. Qin quickly followed: "Sir, do you need help?"

When the child came over to hold his hand, Mr. Jing instinctively lingered his gaze on the child’s face for a moment. An inexplicable flash of familiarity passed through him, as if he had seen her somewhere before, but he rarely left the Jing Family’s gates and only ventured out when urgent matters required it, leaving him no time to meet such small children.

Hearing the voice, Mr. Jing glanced up at the woman coming over with the backpack: "I’m fine, I am indeed tired from walking and was planning to sit for a moment, but this child said it’s chilly on the flower bed, so I won’t sit."

Mrs. Qin nodded politely and then looked down at Shi Mianmian: "Mianmian, let’s go home."

"Okay." Shi Mianmian obediently withdrew her hand but continued to look caringly at the old man: "Grandpa, don’t go out alone, the ground is icy, be careful!"

Mr. Jing looked down at the enthusiastic little girl and couldn’t help but smile: "Well, what a kind-hearted little girl. How old are you?"

Mianmian happily tilted her head and said, "Four years old!"

Then she suddenly raised five fingers: "But in two or three more months... I’m going to have a birthday! Grandpa, do you know what four plus one equals? It equals five! I’m almost five!"

Mr. Jing was amused by the little girl’s serious tone: "Oh, it equals five? You’re so clever, you can do addition already?"

"Hehe." Shi Mianmian grinned widely at the praise.

"Mianmian." Mrs. Qin walked over to Mianmian’s side and then said to the old man: "Sir, I’m sorry, our little girl talks a lot, it’s too cold, we’ll head home now."

Mr. Jing nodded but his gaze remained on the delightful little girl: "Very cute child, well-mannered too. Her parents must be excellent people, this child looks smart, nurture her well and she won’t go wrong in the future."

Mrs. Qin didn’t want to say much to a stranger, she just smiled and prepared to take Mianmian back.

Mianmian, however, while being led away by Mrs. Qin, turned her head and said, "My mommy is truly excellent, my mommy is super great! But I don’t have a dad..."

"Mianmian, say less, we’re going home now." Mrs. Qin pinched her little hand, reminding her not to talk too much about family matters with strangers.

"Okay, goodbye Grandpa!" Mianmian hurriedly waved her small hand vigorously at the old man behind her, hopping along with Mrs. Qin back to Kaixing Mansion.

Mr. Jing stood with his cane in place, watching the little girl gradually walk away.

Such a good child.

No dad?

Are the parents divorced? Or...?

A child raised solely by her mother in an incomplete family, yet with such a good temperament, it truly isn’t easy.

"Sir, the wind is picking up, let’s get back to the car." Mr. Li approached and said softly from behind.

Mr. Jing remained where he was, glanced back at Mr. Li then turned his eyes again towards the direction the child had disappeared: "Just met a little girl, especially cute."

Mr. Li smiled beside him: "Saw her, but I was at the car earlier, standing far away, didn’t see her clearly, was wondering how suddenly a child came up to you."

"That child came to care about me, reminded me not to sit here, afraid I might catch a chill." Recalling the earlier scene, Mr. Jing couldn’t help but smile: "These kids today are indeed thoughtful, truly likable."

"You’re too eager to have a great-grandchild beside you for company, seeing children makes you stop in your tracks." Mr. Li sighed with a chuckle.

Upon mention of this matter, Mr. Jing felt irritated and huffed: "Two grandsons at home, all have passed the legal marriage age, yet none gave me one!"

"Nowadays many young folks don’t start a family or have children even by their thirties, one of them is too busy with work, the other is too young, hasn’t graduated, how could they be so quick?" Mr. Li coaxed: "Let’s head to the car."

Sighing, Mr. Jing tapped his cane towards the car, walking along but couldn’t help musing: "If I had such an adorable child around calling great-grandpa all day, just thinking about it gives me the energy to live another ten or twenty years!"

Mr. Li smiled silently until the old man got into the car, then instructed the driver to drive slowly so that Mr. Jing could leisurely observe the passing scenery.

In the car, Mr. Jing placed his cane aside, closed his eyes and rested for a while.

Out of nowhere, the image of that little girl surfaced again, those eyes, that nose... that expression...

He suddenly opened his eyes: "Mr. Li, that child earlier looked so much like Jihan when he was little..."

Mr. Li filled the thermos cup with high-quality herbal tea in the car and handed it to Mr. Jing: "People say dreams reflect your thoughts, but you’re having illusions in broad daylight, now aren’t all pretty children fair and with big eyes these days? How similar could it be?"

Mr. Jing accepted the cup.

Is it truly due to constant thoughts?

Shi Su had just finished a scene and was about to return to the van when she saw Chu Jiu approaching, frequently signaling to her with his eyes, causing Shi Su to pause and glance towards the van.

She composed herself, walked over, and the bodyguard beside her opened the car door. Upon entering, she saw a woman not much older than herself already inside.

Shi Su glanced at the woman’s Hermes Birkin bag and her high-end brand new fashion designer women’s suit, with shoes from a brand’s new autumn and winter collection.

"Miss Yang?" Shi Su got in the car, gently greeting.

Cherry Yang turned to look at her but remained seated on the car sofa, revealing only a slight smile: "Hello, Shi Su. I’m Yang Ying, everyone calls me Cherry Yang, you can call me that too."

Shi Su only smiled at her, walked over and glanced at several pages of contracts on the table beside her: "This is?"

"Cen Jun has already resigned from the company, I’ll be your agent from now on. We need to redefine related work content without breaching company contracts." Cherry Yang placed a fountain pen on the table: "Take a look, if there are no objections, sign it, then I’ll officially start working by your side today."

Shi Su picked up the contracts and skimmed through them, then set them down, looking lightly at her: "If Party B has a full schedule, unable to balance filming and business collaborations, Party B must unconditionally allow Party A to transfer notices and business resources to other company artists?"
