Chapter 224: Chapter 224 - 222: Mr. Jing Is Especially Strong in That Respect
Jing Jihan glanced at her and suddenly said in a nonchalant voice, "When will you get rid of the habit of walking barefoot on the carpet?"
Shi Su abruptly came back to her senses, instinctively curling her toes, and lowered her head to see herself indeed standing barefoot on the carpet again.
"Uh, I was just going to wash my face, thinking there were slippers in the bathroom..."
Jing Jihan signaled with his eyes for her to go inside and put them on, and Shi Su quickly slipped into the bathroom. As she walked to the mirror to wash her face, her expression suddenly froze, staring at her open collar and then at the barely visible mark on her collarbone.
He said he wouldn’t hold back, and he really didn’t!?
Shi Su forcefully turned on the faucet, and the sound of rushing water filled the air. She adjusted it to the coolest temperature and splashed some on her face, carefully avoiding the area with the bandage on her forehead.
Ten minutes later, Shi Su emerged from the bathroom after freshening up, her clothes now buttoned up. Without skincare products on hand, she faced the world with a plain yet fair complexion, as if her skin still clung to the moisture, walking past Jing Jihan without glancing at him.
Her awkwardly shy demeanor was quite different, but Jing Jihan didn’t call her out on it, instead draping a coat over her shoulders. "Let’s go down to the hotel restaurant for a simple breakfast and then head to the hospital."
She felt as if she was instantly engulfed by a uniquely masculine scent. Shi Su raised her hand to touch her forehead. "I feel like it’s not a big problem, maybe we don’t need to see a doctor."
"I must check to see if you were hit dumb," the man said mercilessly.
Shi Su’s mouth twitched.
Given that their financial backer was nearby, she had no choice but to acquiesce under pressure.
Shi Su pondered for a moment and then decisively chose to give in.
...
At the hospital, Shi Su sat in the consultation room, where there weren’t many medical staff, just one doctor examining her. First, he wrote a note for her to get a brain CT scan, then pressed a few spots on her head, checking her body for other injuries. Jing Jihan stayed by her side the whole time, like a model husband accompanying his wife during a maternity checkup.
But Shi Su wasn’t having a maternity checkup; she was seeing if her brain had been damaged.
After the examination, there was no major problem, just a minor concussion. The doctor discussed precautions for external wounds and prescribed some medication, making it a thrilling yet safe experience.
After being sent back to the Junkai Hotel, Shi Su suddenly found herself switched to a different room, from 8805 to 8806, staying in the room that Jing Jihan had previously occupied.
Although the heater in the original 8805 had been repaired, she still felt anxious every time she showered, fearing cold water might suddenly pour down on her, making her not enjoy the experience fully.
Having moved to this room, Shi Su hurried into the bathroom to enjoy a good shower. Despite avoiding the wounds, making it somewhat inconvenient, she felt at ease both physically and mentally.
However, when she stepped out of the bathroom this time, she had wrapped herself in layers of bathrobe, probably still traumatized by Jing Jihan’s unexpected intrusion last time.
Her phone was filled with WeChat messages, mostly from the crew’s staff expressing concerns, worries, and curiosity about what exactly happened yesterday, having heard she encountered danger, with all sorts of harmless concern.
Shi Su selected a few necessary messages to reply to and then set her phone down to glance over the script.
When she went downstairs to the hotel restaurant for dinner, Jun and Chujiu accompanied her, and crew members occasionally came over to greet her, still curious about exactly what had happened since they hadn’t figured it out through WeChat, ultimately being sent away by Jun.
"Tomorrow’s scenes involve the plot before your college graduation, which perfectly allows for a bangs hairstyle to cover your forehead wound." Jun brought a glass of lemon water for Shi Su and sat down, saying, "Due to Tong Yuanyuan’s situation, we’re rushing scenes here in Z City. The director plans to shoot part of it now and then return to Jiang City to continue filming. Before wrapping up, we’ll return to Z City to make up for any missing shots. Hanging around Z City indefinitely isn’t feasible; it severely affects other actors’ schedules and joining times."
Returning to Jiang City sooner was certainly better. Shi Su had been missing Shi Mianmian, that little rascal, so much she was close to losing her mind.
She nodded and lowered her head to drink soup.
Suddenly, she heard a commotion at the restaurant entrance.
She raised her eyes to see a group of people entering through the hotel’s main entrance.
The Junkai Hotel, though large, wasn’t far from the main entrance on the first floor, and it had a transparent glass partition in between, allowing a clear view of everything in the hotel lobby.
Several Jiang City officials were walking in, chatting and laughing with each other, while Jing Jihan walked ahead, no longer wearing the outfit he had on in the morning when accompanying her to the hospital. His tailored black suit and crisp trousers made him look elegantly aloof yet as upright as a fine tree.
After Shi Su returned to the hotel that afternoon, Jing Jihan went out. He wasn’t in Z City for a vacation; he had many things to handle. Last night, he didn’t sleep because of her, and today he seemed to have attended meetings, yet he appeared in good spirits. If Shi Su didn’t know he hadn’t rested last night, one wouldn’t guess he was without sleep.
"So even these Jiang City officials live at Junkai?" a young actress whispered at the adjacent table, sounding youthful.
Though the hotel provided dinner, many actors chose to dine out, with only a few occasionally eating at the hotel. Therefore, the restaurant wasn’t particularly busy, making it easy to overhear the conversation at the adjacent table.
"You just noticed? Only a few stay here, apparently because the rooms are full," another young actress at the opposite end of the table said quietly.
"I’m not the lead; my scenes start tomorrow. I just arrived in Z City these past couple of days and only heard about the Jiang City officials being here, didn’t expect them to be staying here..."
The two actresses whispered for a while. As they left to gather food in the buffet, they continued their conversation out of earshot.
When they returned, Shi Su heard one say, "I heard they’ll change places tomorrow, perhaps heading to the Eastern Development Zone. There’s a nice hotel over there, much further, so they definitely won’t return to the Junkai."
"Oh? Did I miss it? I was hoping for a romantic encounter with Mr. Jing."
"We missed it ages ago. I only arrived yesterday and heard things were lively at the holiday villa a few days ago... Besides, Mr. Jing isn’t someone we can reach..."
"Everyone needs dreams. I love those cool, domineering CEOs, the kind written about in novels, appearing cold but strong in that aspect."
Upon hearing this, Shi Su suddenly choked on her soup.
The young actress at the neighboring table said, "You see, Shi Su also thinks I’m right."
