Chapter 209: Chapter 209: Witnessing Something Scandalous

Shi Su: "..."

She instinctively curled her toes on the carpet: "What are you doing?"

Jing Jihan’s deep black eyes stared at her for a moment, seeing her stand there like a statue, refusing to move.

Shi Su seemed to hear a light sigh from him, then watched as the man, known for being dignified and aloof, bent down, picked up the pair of disposable hotel slippers from the floor, and walked towards her after straightening up.

The handsome and tall man walked up to her, glanced at her, then bent down to place the slippers at her feet, saying in a deep voice: "Put on the shoes."

Shi Su instinctively lifted her foot, completely forgetting that Jing Jihan was essentially helping her put on the shoes. Once she had them on and the man straightened up again, their eyes met, and Shi Su hurried to say, "I, uh, I’ll go back to my room first..."

Before she could finish her sentence, her stomach let out a faint growl at an inappropriate moment.

The director and others ate barbecue that evening, and Shi Su, sitting nearby, only ate two pieces and then stopped. She hadn’t eaten much else all day. The long bath drained her energy, and now she was starving.

Why did it have to growl now of all times!

Jing Jihan raised his arm to stop Shi Su, who was trying to run past him. The sudden resistance made her body pitch forward slightly and then jerk straight.

The loose dry hair cap on her head fell off instantly, and Shi Su’s half-dry half-wet hair hung messily over her shoulders. She froze, meeting the deep dark gaze of the man.

The atmosphere suddenly turned awkward.

Clearly, the situation seemed extremely intimate, yes, even she realized how awkward the current scene was, especially since she had just taken a bath. Even though she was wrapped in a bathrobe and towel, she wasn’t wearing anything underneath, and the towel could slip off at any moment.

Yet, at this very moment, her stomach awkwardly growled twice more.

Shi Su chuckled, holding her stomach, and checked the bathrobe and towel to make sure they hadn’t come loose.

A voice sounded above her head: "Didn’t eat anything?"

"Yeah, the crew had barbecue at the resort tonight. I don’t really like that."

Jing Jihan’s phone vibrated a few times just then. The room was so quiet, and they were standing so close that Shi Su could hear the vibration clearly.

It was a call from Zhou He, saying the company had just sent over an alternative proposal for a new project. It was supposed to be reviewed by other departments, but due to some issues with the proposal, he had just printed it out at the hotel copy center downstairs and was bringing it to Mr. Jing for review, asking if it’s convenient for him now.

Jing Jihan: "Just bring it up."

After he finished speaking and hung up the call, Shi Su looked out at the sky outside the window: "Working so late, aren’t you CEOs working 24/7, year-round?"

"End-of-year wrap-up work, being busy is unavoidable."

Zhou He was already on his way upstairs when he called. Knowing Mr. Jing was available, he went over with the spare room card for Mr. Jing’s room, knocked politely twice on the door, and then swiped the card to open the door and entered.

Shi Su gathered her hair draped over her shoulders and was about to speak when the door suddenly opened.

She instinctively looked up to see Zhou He coming in with the stack of freshly printed documents, and before she could react, Jing Jihan pulled her behind him with one hand, completely blocking her view of Zhou He standing at the door.

The tall, black silhouette stood before her, the man’s unique cold aura enveloping her instantly. Shi Su’s heart skipped a beat as she tried to peek out from behind him to see Zhou He, only to be pushed back by him.

Then, Jing Jihan looked impatiently at Zhou He, who stood frozen at the door with a dumbfounded expression, perhaps even a bit shocked.

Zhou He never expected to see a woman in Mr. Jing’s room.

When they travel on business, even though they can’t enter Mr. Jing’s room without permission, assistants usually have a spare room card. Mr. Jing’s instructions on the phone were to bring it over, indicating that it was convenient now, right?

Who would have thought Shi Su would be here?

Just a glance and he didn’t catch it clearly, what was Shi Su wearing?

A bathrobe?

Her hair seemed to be still damp.

She obviously looked like she just took a bath in Mr. Jing’s room...

Did he just stumble upon something unimaginable?

Zhou He felt his career might soon suffer a disastrous setback, his usual composure nearly failing him as he faced Mr. Jing’s cold and sharp gaze with sheer panic.

It’s the first time Shi Su saw Jing Jihan make a face like this. Normally, she’s only heard stories, but he never seemed angry in front of her, never showed such aggression. Yet, this current Jing Jihan, the air around him seemed tightly oppressive, resembling snow on a mountain peak, carrying a coldness unfamiliar to her.

The atmosphere in the room was tense, as if Zhou He would be kicked out by Jing Jihan any second.

But a few seconds later, Zhou He quickly placed the documents on the cabinet by the door, apologized with a face full of regret, "I’m sorry, Mr. Jing, I didn’t see anything," and hurriedly left, closing the door quietly.

"You scared Mr. Zhou," Shi Su said, stepping out from behind Jing Jihan, looking at the man’s face that still bore traces of coldness.

Jing Jihan glanced at her: "What were you wearing when you came over?"

"I was just staying across from you, just popped over for a bath, only in need of clothes to change into."

Jing Jihan looked at her bathrobe again and adjusted the neckline for her: "Go back to your room, change clothes, I’ll take you to eat."

"No, no, I have instant noodles and cookies in my room, just fine for a quick bite," Shi Su waved her hand. "Besides, don’t you still have work? You don’t need to worry about me."

With that, she squatted down to pick up her dry hair cap on the floor: "Also, my hair is still wet, going downstairs to eat would take forever, totally unnecessary, you go on with your work, I’m leaving."

She finished speaking and quickly slipped away.

The door opened and closed again as Shi Su swiftly pushed open the door of the room opposite, followed by the sound of it closing once more.

Jing Jihan picked up the documents on the cabinet by the door, flipping through a few pages with a detached and indifferent gaze, then picked up his phone to call Zhou He.

Zhou He, still nervously worried about losing his job, suddenly received a call from Mr. Jing and quickly answered: "Hello, Mr. Jing."

"The proposal indeed has issues; I’ll review it first. Order some food to be sent to 8805; Shi Su hasn’t eaten tonight."

So it was Shi Su staying in 8805!

Zhou He responded repeatedly and, after hanging up, went to inquire about the best restaurants in Z City.

To keep his job, he must make sure to satisfy the diet of the little ancestor!
