Chapter 196: Chapter 196: The Gentleman from Congjiang City

"Who are you pushing? Fighting in the crew? Have some manners!"

"I’m pushing you!"

The two assistants suddenly started pushing each other around, and the director team, being the closest, rushed over to inquire about the situation when they saw what was happening.

Director: "What’s going on? What’s the fuss about? Why are you fighting?"

Chu Jiu, in anger, immediately turned to the director and said, "Tong Yuanyuan’s own acting skills are poor, and she incited her assistant to insult people here, not only insulting but also hitting people!"

Tong Yuanyuan’s assistant, with a justified look, said, "They started it! I didn’t hit anyone! She’s making up stories about me!"

Chu Jiu, in disbelief: "You and your idol really are a bunch of snakes and rats, the ones who love to spread rumors and cause trouble are now accusing others of making up stories! You thought no one saw you when you pushed me, right?"

The director frowned, glanced at Tong Yuanyuan, then at Shi Su, whose expression wasn’t great either: "You tell me, what’s going on?"

Seeing the director planning to intervene, Shi Su said, "It’s exactly what you saw; indeed, Tong Yuanyuan’s assistant extended her hand to push my assistant, even inciting trouble verbally, very arrogant."

Tong Yuanyuan immediately loudly refuted: "Who heard my assistant incite trouble? Who saw her push someone? Who?"

The surrounding crew members on the set all bowed their heads and focused on their own tasks, even if idle, they stared at their own toes as if the matter had nothing to do with them, none of them standing out to speak.

Actually, the director had seen it but didn’t say anything, just tilted his head to look at Tong Yuanyuan, who had a very arrogant air, and said, "Yuanyuan, stop talking and focus on your script. Prepare for the shoot, I trust you can find your state."

Then the director acted as if Shi Su were invisible, turned around, and walked away.

Chu Jiu looked at the director’s indifferent back in disbelief.

Shi Su paused slightly, suddenly realizing that the investor in this crew was Tong Yuanyuan’s godfather, Jin Yuanshan. All staff, including the director, were Jin Yuanshan’s people, so the hearts of everyone on this set, including the director’s, were biased.

Chu Jiu angrily wanted to reason with those surrounding staff who wouldn’t testify, but Shi Su pulled her away, simultaneously seeing both Tong Yuanyuan and her assistant looking over at them smugly.

Tong Yuanyuan’s assistant lowered her voice and said, "Keep talking, find someone to complain, see if anyone will pay attention to you."

The assistant spoke without a very low voice; the director hadn’t gone far and could actually hear everything but pretended not to, having no reaction, completely ignoring the situation here.

Shi Su chuckled, suddenly shifting her previously cold tone, and gently said, "Impressive, truly can’t afford to offend."

Chu Jiu, unprepared for Shi Su’s sudden attitude change, looked at her in disbelief, but Shi Su calmly held down the increasingly furious Chu Jiu, directing her back to the nanny car, pushing her inside, and told her to calm down and not come out.

It wasn’t until after three in the afternoon that they finally finished shooting the first scene smoothly. Yet none of the crew felt any sense of relief because the next scene was a romantic plot between Tong Yuanyuan and the male lead, Wei Sinan.

Shi Su was already frozen stiff, and after Chu Jiu calmed down in the car, she darted out holding a coat to cover her, supporting Shi Su back into the nanny car.

The RV they originally agreed on was given to Tong Yuanyuan, and the environment inside this nanny car was quite cramped, there wasn’t even a place to lie down, only to sit.

Shi Su wrapped in the coat and sat in the car, feeling completely chilled, didn’t warm up until a few cups of hot water went down her throat, yet the car wasn’t very warm.

Jun instructed Chu Jiu to ask the crew for a heater or electric hand warmer.

Chu Jiu went out for over ten minutes, then returned grinding her teeth and said, "I asked, they said there isn’t one available. But I saw them give the electric hand warmer to Tong Yuanyuan, it’s still with her assistant!"

Shi Su, without change in expression, lowered her head to drink a couple of sips of water, saying, "Forget it, I’m already warmed up, no need to ask."

On the other side, the director was still torn because of the scenes between Tong Yuanyuan and Wei Sinan. The first scene had almost turned the director’s hair white, realizing it was only the first day of shooting and there was a three-month shooting period ahead, the thought made him feel faint.

After Tong Yuanyuan continued to mess up several takes, Wei Sinan tried to maintain his gentlemanly demeanor, suggested she adjusts her state well, then walked aside to rest, his face clearly showing helplessness.

Shi Su rested in the car for more than two hours before the second scene finally wrapped up. After touching up her makeup and changing into another outfit, she went over to prepare for shooting when the director said Tong Yuanyuan felt unwell and left for the hotel ahead, so the evening scenes were changed to focus on Shi Su and Wei Sinan.

The two professional actors managed to finish four or five scenes by nine PM, with extensive lines and sequences, finally easing the director’s temper stirred up by Tong Yuanyuan during the day.

Finally, it’s time to head back to the hotel to rest. Shi Su, Tong Yuanyuan, Wei Sinan, and the director were all lodging in the business suites on the eighth floor of Junkai Hotel. Wei Sinan happened to enter the elevator alongside Shi Su. Noticing she was alone, he politely greeted her before asking, "Alone? Where is your assistant?"

"The assistant followed me around all day, it’s too late, let her rest first," Shi Su also politely nodded while answering with a somewhat relaxed tone since their evening shoots went smoothly and they collaborated pleasantly.

Wei Sinan chuckled, "Indeed, it’s too late, Z City’s temperature is lower than Jiang City’s, is Miss Shi a native of Jiang City?"

Shi Su didn’t anticipate him chatting, glanced at him, nodded, and just as the elevator door opened, nodded to him again then walked out, not intending to continue conversing.

Back in the room, initially planning to soak in a hot bath, but before she could take a bath, after merely turning on the shower and washing her hair, the water turned unexpectedly cold. Despite adjusting for quite a while, the temperature remained unstable and fluctuated.

What’s this, house leaking in a night of rain?

She quickly wrapped her hair with a towel, went to call the hotel front desk, saying that yesterday the bath felt with unstable temperature, today’s the same, requesting a room change.

This hotel, being the largest five-star hotel in Z City, even if occasionally a room had issues, she didn’t believe all rooms had problems, didn’t wish to quibble much, just needed a room change to wash up and sleep peacefully.

The front desk apologized: "Sorry, Miss Shi Su, because all rooms on the eighth floor are above a hundred-square-meter business suites, the number isn’t many, and currently fully booked, there’re no available rooms to switch."

"Weren’t you saying yesterday that the room opposite mine was vacant? So today it’s full?"

"Yes, the room opposite yours, today already booked by a gentleman from Congjiang City."
