Chapter 192: Chapter 192: I Was the One Who Danced in Her Place

The heat of the matter continued into the weekend as Four Seas Entertainment held a press conference.

On that day, Shi Su was preparing her luggage for starting a new drama group in a few days. Although most of the scenes for "Honey Ferris Wheel" would be shot in Jiang City, some other scenes needed to be filmed in Z City.

The bullet train between Jiang City and Z City takes about forty-five minutes, while driving on the highway takes about an hour and a half.

Though not far, some night scenes couldn’t be rushed back, so the whole crew would be settled in a hotel in Z City, and she would at least need to bring a suitcase there.

Inside the hotel where Four Seas Entertainment’s press conference was held, Mrs. Shi, Xv Yaru, looked at her daughter sitting in the makeup room. Her makeup was delicate, but her eyes were clearly vacant.

Shi Yunyin had been unable to contact Yi City for days, as he had only agreed to meet publicly at the press conference today, offering her no private time to connect.

Especially for this already announced press conference, no matter how much Shi Yunyin didn’t want to come, she had the prestige and pride of an award winner and the glory and aura of the Shi Family. Even if today she was facing Four Seas Entertainment, which was about to kick her out, and a man who was about to break off their engagement, she had to be there.

Xv Yaru walked out of the hotel and, through various channels, finally got hold of Shi Su’s agent’s phone number, directly calling: "I want to see Shi Su."

...

When Shi Su received a call from Jun, she had just arrived at the studio. Without Jun needing to relay, she directly heard Xv Yaru’s voice over the phone.

Half an hour later, a white Audi stopped in front of a high-end café near Four Seas Entertainment’s press conference hotel.

The café staff welcomed her with professional smiles. The woman stepping out of the car was wearing a fitting casual sports outfit, a baseball cap, and a mask, obscuring her face. Yet, she exuded a distant beauty.

As she walked inside, the staff glimpsed the thick coat draped over her arm. The first thought that arose was, do women today really dress so casually? Sportswear matched with a wool coat, and still wearing a hat and mask?

Yet, such a casual ensemble somehow conveyed a particularly laid-back beauty, unusually appealing.

Shi Su went directly to a booth on the second floor. The staff approached, asking if she had a reservation.

"I’m here to see Xv Yaru."

This café was co-owned by Mrs. Shi, Xv Yaru, and a friend. Not aimed at making money, but rather, it was one of those ventures where idle wealthy ladies easily invest in various businesses, appearing to have important matters, while actually just shifting more assets under their name.

When led into the quietest booth, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee was already wafting out.

Xv Yaru sat inside, idly tinkering with a hand-grinding coffee machine for top-tier coffee beans.

Shi Su entered without a word, decisively closing the door, removing her hat and mask, and casually tossed her coat aside. She sat down lazily yet casually, simultaneously placing a folder on the table, pushing it in front of her.

Stopped by Shi Su’s proactive stance, Xv Yaru paused her hand movements, staring at the brown paper folder: "What’s this?"

Shi Su replied, "See for yourself."

Stupefied, Xv Yaru reached over, picked it up, and opened the folder to find a thick stack of paper documents inside. The first sheet she pulled out detailed the misappropriation of public funds and dozens of property funds from the Shi Family’s company by her since marrying into the Shi Family over twenty years ago, each misuse clearly documented.

"What do you mean?"

"Can’t you see clearly? These are only part of the backup files. Mrs. Shi called me out today. Did she think I was still the helpless little girl she bullied and cut? You wanted to negotiate with me, hoping I’d let Shi Yunyin off the hook, especially the incident from years ago that could affect her future honors and acting career."

Shi Su continued expressionlessly: "Of course, including Yi City. Even if he’s more aware now than five years ago, there’s still much he’s unaware of. Now he only wants to sever ties with you, but have you ever thought, if all truths were exposed to the public, what he would do?"

Xv Yaru’s face darkened, her gaze shifting: "How did you get these? You investigated me?"

Shi Su coldly replied: "Do you think after silently tolerating for so many years in the Shi Family, I didn’t have anything in hand? Or does Mrs. Shi want to see more? For example, the rooms where you had affairs years ago? Or the financial asset list of your lovers that you misappropriated? Or, whether Shi Yunyin is truly Shi Lingkang’s daughter, if she is my half-sister, half-brother, or half-sister? Or... the blazing fire in the small inn five years ago..."

Xv Yaru suddenly lost control, grabbing the hand-grinding coffee machine by her side and viciously throwing it at Shi Su’s head.

Shi Su slightly turned her face away, and the object struck the floor with a resounding crash.

Xv Yaru turned pale, disbelief in her eyes as she glared at her: "You dare investigate me! You monster! I always knew you often locked yourself in the dance studio alone back in those days, unwilling to speak or interact, whatever was asked you stayed silent, you’re a psychologically disturbed monster!"

Shi Su’s expression remained unchanged: "Facing a woman who killed my mother and your daughter unknown where she was sneaking around with lovers, I was just a child then. What could I do? You thought by burning Shi Lingkang’s biological daughter to death and removing her from the Shi Family’s registry, you could ensure your place as Mrs. Shi?"

Xv Yaru stiffened violently, her eyes shocked as she stared at her.

After a long pause, she asked defensively: "So why did you agree to help Yunyin dance back then? At that time, you had clearly already nurtured rebellious thoughts, don’t think I don’t know, five years ago, the way you looked at me was no longer the seemingly obedient gaze of childhood!"

Shi Su’s face remained unchanged: "With everyone pointing fingers in blame, did I have the right to refuse? Besides, I was the one disguising the dance. As long as I’m alive, I’m the strongest proof capable of destroying Shi Yunyin’s career. I naturally wouldn’t miss the chance to become a ticking time bomb in your lives."

The weather at the end of October was unpredictable, sunny one moment, then turning cold.

The café’s air conditioner maintained a moderate warmth, with rich coffee aroma filling the air.

Xv Yaru looked at the stack of documents in her hand, glaring at Shi Su again: "You... what else do you have..."

Shi Su’s voice, ephemeral as a feather, was like laughter, yet not a chuckle: "So much, enough to keep you and your daughter awake each night."
