Chapter 124: Chapter 124

Because the work hours were over yesterday when the last announcement was posted on the forum, some of them didn’t see it until they went back home and logged into the company’s forum.

This morning, they all came to work, some in high spirits and most of them looking gloomy.

“Ah, Ms. Lin, Ms. Ju’an. We never thought we would be able to see you again.”

“So the issue was addressed and Ms. Lin and Ms. Ju’an got the position.”

“Hmmm, was it because Ms. Lin spoke up? What would have happened if all of us had cooperated yesterday and spoke up together?”

“Everyone knows Ms. Lin deserves that position even if she wasn’t the one who spoke up. Stop mourning, you guys don’t even know what you’re saying. Isn’t it too late to regret?”

The employees sighed at once. They all looked at Annie and Layla. The smile on their faces was forced. Only a few genuinely smiled at the girls.

“We are going to miss you girls, especially Ms. Lin.”

“With Ms. Lin no longer in this department, how can we get someone else who will teach us and point us in the right direction?”

“Ms. Ju’an is also a kind person. When someone gets bullied next time, they might as well fend for themselves.”

“Is it under most that you girls work in the CEO’s area? Won’t you have pity on us and withdraw the transfer?”

“We the employees of the Arts Department are united. I’m sure Ms. Lin and Ms. Ju’an will reconsider.”

Layla rolled her eyes and scoffed. “Let’s ignore them, Annie. These girls are hypocrites.”

Yesterday, they had all been mad at Annie and even scolded her that she would make them lose their jobs. Now that she became successful, they couldn’t wait to curry favor with her and even beg her to stay.

Could they be less hypocritical for once for goodness sake?

Annie’s attention wasn’t on the employees anyway. She was busy packing her personal things from her cubicle.

Including the decorations and some books, she put them all inside a small box before sealing the box with tape.

Layla did the same and they were soon set to leave the department.

“By the way, we wish you guys all the best. For those that are genuinely happy for us, I’ll throw a party later and you’re all invited.”

“That’s a great idea Ms. Ju’an. Your promotion is worth celebrating.”

“We can’t wait to come. Ms. Ju’an and Ms. Lin must know that we have nothing against them.”

“Where exactly is the party taking place?” One employee furrowed his brows and asked.

Layla had planned to throw the party in her house, but her mother might invite her busybody friends and she didn’t like to entertain those scrutinizing women. So she later on changed her mind and decided to hold it at a restaurant.

“I’ll treat you all to good food. So let’s meet at CSquare Eatery after work.”

The five-star restaurant was close to MystiArt Productions and the employees readily agreed.

“Annie, you’ll also come, right?” Layla had already told Annie about it, and she wanted to make sure her friend wouldn’t ditch her.

She was secretly throwing the party for them both. However, she didn’t tell Annie, fearing the girl would turn it down. Annie was all about saving money and Layla found that logic weird.

“Sure, I’ll be there.” Annie laughed softly as if she could read Layla’s thoughts. She brought out a copy of her transfer letter and they both walked into the Manager’s office.

Jason was sitting behind his desk. When he looked up and saw the girls come in, his expression shifted. There was a complex emotion in his eyes when he looked at Annie.

“Finally, we can leave this place.” Layla smiled sweetly and placed her transfer letter in front of him. “Brother, isn’t it a good thing that the most serious employees in your department are willingly leaving?”

Jason ignored Layla’s taunting. They hadn’t been on good terms and he sighed inside and continued looking at Annie.

“Mr. Ju’an, here is mine.” Annie placed the letter in front of him. “I wish the Arts Department good luck.”

“What are you saying, Annie? It’s not like you’ll lose touch with the Arts Department. Remember we’ll be handling all the reports from the Arts Department.” Layla faked a sad look.

“Still, it is good that we wish the Arts Department luck.”

“Oh, you’re right.” Layla nodded. “The Arts Department now needs as much luck as it can get. Some people might not be competent enough to handle the employees.”

Priscilla was sitting on the couch and she knew the girls were indirectly speaking about her. Her face was so green that she was barely recognizable.

Because she was very angry, Priscilla didn’t want to leave the office after coming to work. At that moment, she was mad at everyone. She didn’t even speak to Jason since yesterday.

Now that Layla was indirectly throwing remarks at her, she flared up. “It is just a secretary position, Annie! Don’t be so full of yourself.”

To Priscilla, Annie was still her greatest enemy. After seeing the announcement yesterday, she even cried for real.

How could Annie get that position? Didn’t her father promise her that the girl would be out of MystiArt Productions?

“If it’s just a secretary position, why don’t you get one for yourself, Mrs. Ju’an?” Annie looked at her before turning to Jason. “Mr. Ju’an, I’ll take my leave.”

“Goodbye, Priscilla.” Layla waved at her. “You can now stop thinking that someone is after your husband. Annie doesn’t even care you exist. While we’re busy making money, I hope you guys will busy yourselves, enjoying your neverending honeymoon.”

By that time, Annie was already out of the office and Layla decided to stay back to give the couple a piece of her mind.

“Watch your tone, Layla. How many times do I have to warn you to watch how you speak?” Jason gave her a disapproving look.

Layla ignored him and faced Priscilla. “Now that Annie is gone, stop making trouble, Priscilla. At least, stop turning my brother into a foolish man.”

With that said, Layla shook her head and left.

“Honey!” Priscilla whined. She didn’t even know what to say and she remained silent.

How could she say Annie was gone? Annie was still in MystiArt Productions. The girl would be in more contact with her husband from now on.

Annie wasn’t gone. Annie was still a big threat to her. Just now, Jason was staring at the girl like some lost treasure. How was her mind going to be at ease?
