Chapter 103: Chapter 103
“Y-You…” Mia pointed at Sabrina. “Don’t I have the right to admire Ms. Lin?”
“No, you don’t.” Annie looked away from her phone and answered the girl instead.
Mia was speechless. In fact, she felt a bit ashamed. Most of the time, she would throw horrible remarks at this girl, however, Annie always acted as if she didn’t care. Who knew the girl would throw sand into her eyes?
“Give it up, Mia.” Sabrina chuckled. “Why don’t you save your flattery for Mrs. Ju’an when she arrives?”
“Oh, My goodness, Annie.” Layla’s excited voice came from the elevator. “Girl, you scared me really. And I was thinking you quit.”
Layla hurried forward and sat beside Annie. “What happened by the way? Why didn’t you come to work yesterday? Can you believe how boring it was?”
“Actually, I wanted to quit,” Annie dropped her phone and said simply. “But I decided against it.” She shrugged.
“That’s my girl.” Layla was more than happy. If Annie had quit, she might as well quit. She couldn’t handle Priscilla and she was afraid some day she would do something they both wouldn’t like.
Remembering how her brother had constantly reprimanded her yesterday, Layla was more annoyed with the girl. She even wondered what Priscilla told her brother to make him that angry at her.
“Damn, Annie, how I wish I can reverse time,” she grumbled. “Then I would have done my best to stop that wedding from happening. I would have dragged that girl by her hair and thrown her out of the house before they exchanged the vows.”
“If you had done that, Ms. Ju’an, it would saved everyone a lot of trouble.” Mia chipped in. “Mrs. Ju’an is so full of herself, especially now that the Manager is richer.”
“Hey, who spoke to you?” For some reason, even Layla didn’t like the girl. “Just go away, Mia. You will be the first person to tell Priscilla about things we said behind her back once she arrives.”
Mia felt more attacked. She looked at the other employees who were staring at her with displeased looks, then she scoffed and returned to her cubicle.
The employees weren’t working their ass off, so everyone had time to chat. Because of what was posted in the forum yesterday, they found it useless to design many characters in a day.
Doing that would affect the accuracy of their work and the long hours would be spent working fruitlessly.
So wasn’t it better to design at least one character in a day? They could take some rest to freshen up their creative minds so they wouldn’t make any mistakes.
Honestly, the new rule was to their advantage. They couldn’t find enough words to thank the CEO.
“Annie, by the way, have you seen the announcement about the CEO hiring more secretaries?”
“Of course.” Annie showed Layla her phone to let her see her application. “I’m also waiting for the results.”
Layla blinked and opened her mouth. She was completely surprised. “Wow, that is great. If we’re lucky, we’ll get to work in the CEO’s area. I’m tired of this department, anyways.”
If Priscilla would continue being the Manager’s assistant, Layla didn’t see any reason why she should work under the girl. She brought out her phone and also showed Annie her application.
“I hope we get selected. Apart from enjoying more benefits, won’t we be able to get to see the CEO’s handsome face every day?”
“Not really.” Annie looked at the girl’s expression and wanted to laugh. “Although the secretaries’ area is close to the CEO’s office, he mostly takes his private elevator so we can’t see him.”
“It doesn’t matter, Annie!” Layla exclaimed. “We might as well peek at him when he’s inside the office. Gosh, I can’t wait. How do you know about that anyway?”
Annie opened her mouth, but an employee interrupted her.
“It seems Ms. Ju’an is love-struck. You are so eager to work close to the CEO. Don’t you know you have a lot of competition?”
“What is it this time, Mia?” Layla looked annoyed.
“Well, I just want to let you know that every girl in this department has applied too. And not only this department, every other department in MystiArt Productions has ninety percent of female employees that have applied.”
“What if the competition is tough? At the end of the day, only the hardworking ones will be hired.”
“Don’t be so sure of yourself, Ms. Ju’an. There are a lot of hardworking employees in MystiArt Productions. Do you think the CEO will waste his time going through each application? In the end, he will randomly pick anyone for the position and most people might not be lucky.”
What Mia said made sense to all the employees. They had been happy before now, however, they couldn’t even force themselves to smile.
“You’re right, Mia. But why would you dampen our hopes when you’re not sure if you will get picked? Why couldn’t you keep the thoughts to yourself?”
“I was just saying the obvious.” The girl smiled as if enjoying the gloomy looks on their faces. “As you know, dreaming too much is bad for the brain. So those that have hidden intentions towards the CEO might as well stop dreaming, especially Ms. Ju’an who can’t stop fantasizing about him.”
“You-“ Layla stood up. “Now I know what you’re driving at, Mia. It seems Priscilla is not the only troublemaker in this department.”
“Ah, Ms. Ju’an, don’t be offended. You act too much like a teenager. It makes me wonder if Ms. Ju’an doesn’t have a boyfriend.”
Even Annie opened her mouth when the girl said that. The employees were in for a round of fight, because Layla’s expression didn’t look good.
Before anyone could register it, Layla was already at the girl’s cubicle and she pulled her up. “Let me disfigure your face, Mia. Maybe you will finally mind your business.”
Layla didn’t get to hit the girl, though. Annie was able to stop her in time, and Mia, who now looked as frightful as a chicken, hurried to hide in a corner.
“Is it true that Ms. Ju’an doesn’t have a boyfriend? Why are you angry because of a simple remark?” Mia yelled.
“Just let me at her, Annie.”I swear I’m going to make her lose her teeth.”
“What is going on here?” A sound came from the elevator and everyone looked in that direction to see the couple walking into the department.
“Ah! You!” Priscilla almost lost her footing, seeing Annie standing with Layla.
