Chapter 15: Chapter 15
Chapter Fourteen
Shane
Shane and his friends were sitting in the cafeteria. They all talked about their history professor. How he behaved and such. They all just considered him douche and said gossiped about how he was pretending to be nice to gain sympathy and such. It was even wonder to them how he was even able to keep his job. After a while talking about this they moved to talk about sports. When suddenly Shane asked.
"You all coming for party? At my house?"
"It's a get together, not a party." Alex said.
"Have you ever seen a get together include people like us? Wherever we go it usually becomes a party." Michael said.
"I don't care what it is until I can have free drinks." Noah said.
"I don't understand how you eat so much but still stay fit." Michael said.
"He's the one who gets hit by girls more than any of us because of his physique." Alex said.
"They hit on money not on me." Noah said.
"Not all girls." Shane said.
They all turned to Shane.
"What?" Shane asked.
"Who is it that you're talking about?" Noah asked with a mocking tone in his voice.
"No one in particular. I'm just saying." Shane said.
"What's going on between you and Sonya?" Alex asked.
"Nothing." Shane replied.
"Did you say something to her again? Why she ignored us in the morning?" Michael asked.
"Nothing is going on between us and I don't know why she ignored you all. I was confused myself. She was talking to me just fine then suddenly I don't know what happened." Shane said.
Alex was looking at Shane with an unreadable expression. Michael was just going to speak when Alex interrupted.
"Alright, so we should head over to Noah's house. We'll get ready and then meet you at you at your house?" Alex said.
"Sure." Shane said.
Later Shane wanted to go home with Sonya but she left school early. Shane was disappointed but can't really do anything about it. He made his way to the bus stop. As he was about to reach the bus stop he saw Sonya standing there, waiting for the bus. Sonya's face turned to him and she looked surprised. Shane made his way to her and stood beside her.
"I thought we were going home together?" Shane said.
"Practically, we will be going together." Sonya said.
"I meant from school." Shane said.
"It doesn't make any difference. Do we have to dress formally? I mean, it's just get together with the people we already know. So it shouldn't matter what we wear. Right? " Sonya said.
Bus came to their stop and they entered, got their tickets and took a seat. Sonya and Shane were the last one to enter. At last point, when bus gates were about to close, an old lady with the age of seventy or more entered the bus with a seven or an eight year old boy. Every seat was full so Shane stood.
Shane signaled the old woman to take his seat. Sonya also stood and let them both have a seat. The old lady smiled and said "Thank you" to them. Shane smiled back and said "Your welcome". Sonya did not say anything. She just watched him and their interaction. Shane turned to Sonya.
"Wear something comfortable and formal, well not too formal. Anything that you can wear outside. Just try not to wear pajamas." Shane replied.
"I wasn't planning on that." Sonya muttered under her breath.
"Why you're ignoring my friends?" Shane asked.
"I'm not." Sonya said.
"You are. Don't deny it." Shane said.
"Because I can." Sonya said.
"What do you mean?" Shane asked.
"What you heard." Sonya said.
Shane sighed. Sonya turned her face to the window. She then turned back to him.
"You told me not to. Remember?" Sonya said. The bus came to their stop. They both left the bus and started walking in the direction of their home.
"But I apologised right? We talked it off." Shane said. Shane was confused about why she was bringing that stuff again.
Sonya
Sonya saw Shane's expression. So she tried to explain.
"You didn't apologised for… nevermind." Sonya said.
What was she talking about? She can feel how stupid and childish she will sound. Asking him to apologise again.
"I'm sorry for every stupid thing I said. I said it, not my friends. So, please, Sonya don't take it out on them." Shane said.
Now Sonya was feeling like an actual child. She felt stupid. Shane's apology brought her the feeling of guilt. She did not think it would turn out like this. So she tried to cover her up.
"I was not in a mood to talk. I sometimes have this sudden urge to shut up and calm down. I don't want to speak at these moments. Same thing happened in the morning. It's not a mental problem. Just a feeling that wants me to remain silent." Sonya said.
It's was an excuse but a real one. Sonya does have this sudden urge to stop speaking.
"But You were talking to me just fine." Shane said.
"In these 'moments'... I can shut down easily. I will be talking to you now and after just a second you will find me not speaking a simple word. It's just the way it is."
"That was deep. Okay then." Shane said as they reached their house.
They both entered. Sonya closed the door behind her. Kara came out of the kitchen. She was wearing an apron. Probably preparing something in the kitchen to get together.
"Oh, you're both here. Go upstairs, freshen up and change. Then come downstairs to help me at work." Kara said.
"I'm on it." Shane said.
"Okay." Sonya replied.
After fifteen minutes, Shane was just about to go down when he heard someone's voice. Shane got to the railings and looked downstairs. There was Sonya, singing. Shane froze and just stared at her. His full attention on Sonya.
"Hmm, hmm..."
"Wake up and smell the coffee"
"Is your cup half full or empty?"
"When we talk, you say it softly"
"But I love it when you're awfully quiet"
"Hmm, hmm... quiet"
"Hmm, hmm"
Shane shifted a little and placed his forearms on the railing and and bent down a little to support his weight. His gaze never left Sonya. She was waiting for the microwave to ding while she was writing something on the table with her fingers. Singing at the same time.
"You see a piece of paper"
"Could be a little greater"
"Show me what you could make her"
"You'll never know until you try it"
"Hmm.. , hmm… "
"And you don't have to keep it quiet"
"And I know it makes you nervous"
"But I promise you, it's worth it"
"To show 'em everything you kept inside"
"Don't hide…, don't hide..."
"Too shy to say, but I hope you stay"
"Don't hide away"
"Come out and play"
Suddenly Sonya's face turned to the upstairs and Sonya saw Shane coming downstairs. He moved at the exact same moment when Sonya looked at him. Sonya saw him coming downstairs and stopped singing. Sonya's face had gone a little pale and she grimaced. She probably was wondering if Shane had listened to her or not. Shane saw Sonya with peripheral vision and noticed all of this. Kara entered the kitchen at the same time.
"Are cookies ready?" Kara asked Sonya. Microwave dinged at the same time.
"It is now." Sonya said. The doorbell rang. "Shane can you get that?" Kara asked. Shane did not say anything and moved towards the door. He looked through the peephole and saw his friends. He opened the door and greeted them. Then led them inside.
"We are here." Alex announced. He looked eager. Shane thought. As they entered the kitchen.
Sonya
"Need any help? Hi Sonya." Alex said. Kara turned to them and smiled brightly.
"Hi." Sonya said.
"Yeah. Help me with tables. Would you? " Kara said dusting her hands off.
"We're on it." Noah said.
"When's everyone coming?" Sonya asked Kara.
"Probably, after half an hour. Crap. We need to hurry." Kara said, looking at the watch. All of the guys went outside to set the table. Leaving Sonya and Kara alone.
"How many people are coming?" Sonya asked.
"Later." Kara said as she handed Sonya table covers to Sonya.
"Give it to them." Kara said.
Sonya frowned but went anyway. She opened the glass sliding door and stepped outside. She saw Alex and Shane walking backwards with a table in their hands. Both on either side of the table. Then they placed it on the ground. Suddenly, someone snapped their finger in front of Sonya's face.
"I know they're hot but it's rude to stare at someone. But… if you want you can stare at me, I won't mind." Noah said.
"Hey, I won't mind her staring at me either." Alex said.
"Me too." Michael said as the slide passed Sonya. Sonya burned with embarrassment and bowed her head down. Alex chuckled.
"I wish I could say that you were attractive enough for me to stare at you." Sonya said as she straightened her face.
"Ohh… you hurt my feelings." Noah said as he tapped his heart twice.
"Fine. Maybe I'm not attractive enough for you to stare at me but I'm worth your time. I'm really good in bed. I can do anything, I have no limits when I'm pleasing a girl and I give no chance for any girl to complain about my skills in bed." Noah said and everyone laughed except Sonya.
"I can take that as offensively, you know." Sonya said.
"Oh come on, honey pie. Try to learn to take a joke. You don't have to be serious all the time." Noah said. Sonya looked at him.
"Are you really that good in bed?" Sonya asked.
"The best. Girls even like my weight on them. Even though I'm really heavy and no one can lift me." Noah said. Sonya got on his face and Noah backed up with a shock.
"Then maybe, you're really worth my time."
Sonya said as she put her hand on his hand. Noah looked at Sonya placing her hand on his and his face turned pale. He followed her movements with his eyes. Sonya slowly slipped hands up to his arms. Then to his hips as she circled his waist. She then tucked him to her side hip bone and pulled. She literally pulled him off the ground and placed him right back.
"No one can lift you? Huh! You wish." Sonya said. She suddenly felt weird about what she just had done. She heard three of the other guys laughing. Weirdly, including Shane.
"You just got owned by a girl, Noah. She knows how to take a joke." Michael said.
"This time, yeah. You really got me, dude." Noah said as he patted Sonya's back. Noah was looking in shock. Sonya covered tables, when the doorbell rang.
"I'll go get it." Sonya said. Needing an excuse to leave. She went and opened the door without looking through the peephole. She saw that creepy neighbour, James standing there with a very big smile plastered on his face.
