Chapter 20: Chapter 20

Adrianna POV.

I was woken up by the sunrays which had found their way to my room. I wondered what time it was. Dragging myself out of bed, I went to the bathroom to do my daily routine. I really had a busy day ahead of me. It has been two weeks since the Charity ball. We had found where Sister Anne was admitted. Ivy and I took the responsibility of constructing the children's home. Yes, there were obstacles but we managed to fight them. Today, we will be completing the arrangements there so that they can move in. They have been living in Victor's building. He didn't have a choice because he knew that we still wouldn't listen to him.

Walking into the closet, I took a black ragged jeans and a red crop sweater. I was going to meet the kids so it won't be wise for me to wear white. I then took black sneakers and a red handbag. After doing my makeup, I walked out of the room.

I met Maria and Ivy in the kitchen.

"Goodmorning Adrianna," Maria greeted.

"Goodmorning sleepyhead," Ivy said with a smirk.

Maria's daughter underwent the therapy and she is now cured from her cancer. Maria told me that she resigned three of her jobs and will be working in two houses only. She works two days a week and the rest she spends with her daughter. I admire how she takes care of her daughter. On the other hand, my mother abandoned me. Sister Anne told me that I had been left outside the gate where they picked me up. The person who did that did not leave a letter but I had a necklace with me. It is in my safety box. I don't wear it always, only during special occasions. Sometimes I wish that I could meet with her so that she can tell me why she abandoned me. Let's push those bad thoughts away.

"Good Morning to you too," I said, faking a smile. Maria seemed to notice it was fake cause her smile fell and she sighed. I don't know why I can't talk about her and I'm not supposed to.

"So what's for breakfast?" I asked.

"It depends on what you want," she said and I nodded my head.

"Alright then. I can have some waffles please," I said and walked out of the kitchen towards the living room.

Ivy told me yesterday that Elijah is holding some girls and women hostages. He plans on selling them to get the money. I really despise that man. Not that all mafias are perfect but they still manage and prevent them from hurting children and women but on the other side, they use women as toys. I have been trying to track them down since then. I know I will soon get some information about that from the Italian but I want to be a step forward. They don't need to ask me to save the girls so that I can first try to track them down.

"What's wrong with you," Ivy said as she entered.

"What?" I asked because I really didn't understand her.

"You didn't look happy when you were in the kitchen. So what's up?" She asked and I shook my head

"Nothing is wrong with me, Ivy," I said hoping that she might believe me or better give up.

"Come on, we are sisters, remember," she said and I sighed. I knew that there was no way she was going to leave me alone.

"I just admire how Maria cares and loves her daughter so much. Honestly I envy her," I told her truthfully.

"I know. I also do. It makes me wonder how it feels to have your parents by your side and give you all the love you deserve," she said and I smiled slightly at her.

"We should at least be thankful that we have Victor," I said and her smile fell and I wondered why.

"Come on, let's go and eat some that we can take the kids from that building," she said while standing up. I quickly held her arm and gave her a questioning look.

"You know that Victor can't hurt them right?" I said and she kept quiet and I immediately knew that there was something wrong. I didn't want to force her to talk to me. Therefore, Inlet her go.

She went to the dining room and sat at her seat. When I walked in, Maria brought me my breakfast.

"So what are you guys going to do?" She asked while smiling.

"Nothing much. Just the final touches of the orphanage and arranging the furniture," I said.

"Ooh, I would like to help you," she said.

"No thanks, we will manage and furthermore, we have hired some goons to help us out," Ivy said.

"I know you have but Lily claims she is tired of staying at the house. Maybe if we both join you, she will be happy," she said and we glanced at each other with Ivy.

I know how it feels not to go outside for a long time. The girl has been in the house for years and the only time she left was when she was going to the hospital. Nothing would hurt by allowing them to join us, right?

"It is okay. Why don't you call her and inform her that we will be going for her?" I said.

"Yes, now. Let us eat so that you can clean these dishes before we leave," Ivy said.

I know she had showered but she was in her pyjamas. I really can't blame her. Pyjamas are always so comfortable.

We ate in silence. I knew Ivy was avoiding me because of the question I asked in the living room. What I have to do is to find out whether anything bad has happened to the kids when they are under Victor's care. After some minutes I was done, I took my dishes to the sink.

"I will be in the garden. When both of you are done, call me," I told them before I left.

I do have a garden but I am not the one who waters them. I can guarantee you that in this building, most people have gardens, there is a man who waters them for all of us. It has been awhile since I came here. The place looked alive and it made one to be calm. Sitting on the bench, I closed my eyes and I allowed the fresh air to fill my nose.

Later, I heard my name and I walked in only to find Maria and Ivy near the front door. Even though they wanted to leave me, Ivy hates driving so most of the time I am the one who goes.

Taking my handbag, I walked past them to the elevator. When we got to my garage, I picked a purple audi. I may have a dark soul, but I like bright colours. We need to mix different colours with our belongings and our soul so that people may be unable to figure out who we really are.

I knew Maria's address so there was no need to ask her for one. After twenty minutes, I pulled in the driveway and Maria walked out. She soon came back with a young girl. She was beautiful, that's for sure but she was thin and pale. They got into the backseat and after making sure they had their safety belts on, I drove away.

"Hae Lily," I said and the girl smiled at me.

"Hae. Thank you so much for allowing me to join both of you," she said.

"It is nothing. We are glad to finally meet you," Ivy said.

After that, the drive was not silent anymore, she all engaged in conversation. We knew that we had to make her feel lively.

We arrived at the children's home and noticed that there were a lot of activities going on. I guess we are late today. What made me happy is the fact that the men we had hired were already here and we were doing their work. I saw different furniture being carried into their respective places. We got out of the car immediately and we joined them. While the goons were carrying furniture, we decided to clean the areas where the furniture was already put. No one rested, none of the kids were here, I wanted this to be a surprise for them. After five hours, we were all done. Sister Anne and Maria decided to prepare meals for everyone and also enough when the kids get here.

I requested the goons to also wait and join us for lunch. If it weren't for them then for sure we would be still working right now. We had requested Victor to help us with some of his men but he ended up refusing.

The bus came into view and that was our clue to know that the kids were already here. When they got out m, they were all shocked and were looking around.

"Hey kids, we are really sorry but now, your home is already finished. I hope you like how we have renovated the place," Ivy said to the shocked kids.

"Like it? We really love it, Ivy," Ken said and hugged her.

"Thank you so much Ivy and Adrianna," Emily said while shedding tears.

"Ooh, don't cry. Come here," I told her.

She is sixteen years old. As she was coming, I noticed her limping and the change on her clothes. She has never been that kind of a girl to wear baggy clothes. Today, she was in a grey sweatpant and a black hoodie.

I hugged her and she winced in pain. I looked after her but she averted her eyes. I patted her back and she winced loudly. I can't wait to be there twice. I got rid of the hoodie but tearing it apart. I knew people were looking at me but I did not care.

"Adrianna, what are you doing?" She asked.

"Adrianna, what are you doing? "Sister Anne asked.

"Adrianna stopped. Can't you see that she is crying?" Ivy asked but I did not listen to any of them.

What I saw really shocked me. Her back was covered with whips and burnt marks.

"Who did this to you?" I asked softly but she kept quiet. She only made me more angry.

"I asked you a question Emily. How did this to you," I shouted, making her flinch.
