Chapter 34: Chapter 34
"I am not a kid. I'm not someone you can command or force to do something. I'm not doing whatever couples do. Listen, if you try to force me into anything, I will report you for assault. Trust me, I will do that. Don't dare me, Romeo Sparks. Don't underestimate the power of a common man." I paused.
I took a deep breath. I need to regain my strength, before continuing my ranting.
I've been screaming at the top of my lungs since Romeo replied to my question with "Things couples do."
Romeo didn't seem like he was bothered by my rants, he didn't even turn to stare at me. There was a time he turned on the car radio in order to get rid of my noises. I shot him a deadly glare. I didn't bother to say anything before he turned off the car radio. I was glad that my glare could terrify him, to the extent that he switched off the car radio. It felt like I was in control. He wasn't the one in control as he said.
"Are you done?" Romeo asked.
My brows snapped together. I stared at him through the rear mirror. As expected, our eyes met. He gazed at me for a few seconds, before focusing his attention on driving.
I turned. I need to stare at him properly. The corners of his mouth curved into a little smile. What was funny? So, this handsome jerk was enjoying my tantrums. Unbelievable!
I hissed. "I am not done yet."
"Continue."
It came out of his mouth as a slow whisper.
I shook my head in disbelief, my eyes narrowed at him."Do you think this is funny? You are enjoying it, aren't you? " I shot him with questions.
He gazed at me for a few seconds.
"What is there not to enjoy? You know I really love hearing your voice. It turns me on." He uttered.
I swallowed hard. Romeo was so blunt. He doesn't keep his feelings towards people inside of him.
I couldn't deny that I liked the fact that my voice turned me on. It was special. At least, something about me could make someone sexually active. I wasn't a boring person after all.
But, I had to pretend like I was mortified by what he said. Like, he wasn't supposed to tell me that. He ought to keep it inside of him.
I frowned. A fake frown. I clenched my tiny fists and punched him on his arm.
My mouth fell open. Had I forgotten that he was driving the car? I should have reserved the punch for later.
I was glad that my tiny fists didn't have an effect on him. It didn't seem like I punched him. He didn't feel anything.
"Do you want to kill us?" Romeo's husky voice jerked me out of my thoughts.
His hooded gaze through the rear mirror made me feel weak in the knees.
"But, we are not dead. We are safe." I stated.
"I never knew that I'm dating a crazy girl." He muttered under his breath.
I chuckled softly. I was enjoying messing with him. Maybe, it was okay that we were on our way to his house. Going to my house would be very boring and a typical night. I might read a little and sleep.
But, tonight will be different. I was sure I would enjoy spending a night with Romeo. Every moment with my boyfriend was always filled with happiness and meant to be cherished.
The rest of the journey to his house was spent in silence. Both of us were enveloped in our thoughts. I could see my boyfriend stealing glances at me. Probably, he was wondering about why I wasn't bothering him anymore. I knew he also liked it when I bothered him.
Sadly, I wasn't in the mood of messing around anymore. I was stressed out and I couldn't stop thinking about my relationship with Romeo.
I think our relationship was childish. Both of us were acting like thirteen year old kids who had just started dating. Anyway, this was my first relationship. My boyfriend had dated before. He should be more experienced than me. But, he was the one acting childish.
Imagine kissing another girl in a truth or dare game, because I also kissed someone. He didn't bother to listen to my explanation, he only went ahead and did the same thing. Like, he had been waiting for a chance to kiss Khloe. I should be worried. Honestly, we need to talk. Romeo and I need to have a serious conversation, in order to avoid more disasters.
A few minutes later, we reached Romeo's house. I alighted from his car, glancing around his compound like I've never been here before. Like, I didn't come here last week.
I noticed another car in the parking lot, apart from the two cars that used to be there.
"Is your mom or dad around?" I questioned him.
Romeo nodded his head in the affirmative. "My mom is around. Don't worry. She won't mind if you stay here overnight." He answered.
I gave a half shrug."I'm not worried." I blurted out.
"Good to know." He muttered.
Both of us walked to the door. Romeo opened the door, after ringing the doorbell once. I didn't bother to question the reason he opened the door, without getting a response from anyone. It was none of my business after all, it was his house.
I was the first person to enter the living room. I got a bit scared when I saw a figure in the dining room. I didn't expect someone to be there. Judging from the long hair, it must be Romeo's mother, Sarah. Her head was placed on the table. There are bottles of alcoholic drinks and cigarettes scattered on the table. It seems like she had been having fun.
It was kind of weird though. Sarah didn't seem like someone who was into stuff like drinking and smoking. Well, I think she looked too innocent for those kinds of things.
"Mother." Romeo called, walking over to the dining room.
Sarah lifted her head from the table. She took a tissue and wiped her nose with it. I noticed that her eyes were wet. Tears shimmered in her beautiful eyes. Something was definitely wrong with her.
She hadn't noticed my presence, her gaze was fixed on the table.
"What happened to you, mom?" Romeo queried.
"R. .Romeo, your d. .dad - "
Sarahe cut short her words when her eyes met mine."Ivy." She said, her voice was trembling.
I forced a smile. "Hello."
Sarah smiled weakly at me. "I am going to bed. Both of you should take care of yourselves." She stated.
"Good night." I uttered.
Sarah waved at me and began walking through the stairs. I stared at her, till I couldn't see her long hair anymore.
I shifted my gaze to Romeo. His forest green eyes had turned a shade darker. I knew he was thinking about his mom. I shouldn't be here. If I wasn't here, Sarah would have told Romeo what was wrong with her. My boyfriend ought to be taking care of his mom right now. I was the one not letting that happen.
I cleared my throat, in order to get his attention. "Romeo, can you please give me a ride to my house? I think you need to talk to your mom." I told him.
Romeo's beautiful eyes locked into mine, conveying a lot of messages to me. Sadly, I didn't get the meaning of his intense gaze. Before I knew it, he was in front of me.
I nibbled on my bottom lip. Why was I nervous? Was it because of his intimidating gaze or what? I was the one pulling his legs and throwing stupid tantrums like a naughty kid, a few minutes ago. Now, my tongue was tied. I didn't have the nerve to say anything.
"Your mom needs you. Can you give me a ride to my house?" I repeated my question, avoiding his gaze.
Still, Romeo didn't mutter a single word. Was he deaf? This was a serious moment. He should not be messing around with me. His mom needs him.
I think something serious had happened between his mom and his dad. I had seen his dad once. It was pretty obvious that Romeo didn't have a good relationship with his father. There was a day Romeo wanted to tell me everything about his dad but that didn't happen. He messed everything up by having sêx with Sharon.
I looked up."Tell me if you can give me a ride or not. I need to get home as soon as possible."
No response. He was staring at me like I was speaking a different language. This guy was indeed a handsome jerk.
"Romeo," I called his name. "I need - "
Romeo captured my lips in a kiss. A kiss filled with hunger and desire. A kiss that lasted for barely twenty seconds. A kiss that left me wanting more.
"I want you." He said hoarsely.
