Chapter 702: Chapter 702 - 673: This Scroll is Extraordinary
A young disciple quickly walked into the room.
"Elder Seven!"
"Relay my order: I will be in seclusion soon. No one is to disturb me!"
Upon hearing this, the disciple’s expression turned troubled. "Elder Seven, this is a critical time for discussing the matters of Mount Wangcheng. If you go into seclusion, Elder Mei Ji might devour us!"
The young disciple was in a dire predicament. Everyone on Lingxiao Mountain had a temper, making life unbearable for minor disciples like him. The one they feared most was Grand Elder Mei Ji. When she became angry, she could charm people to death; making them sleep through nightmares was a trivial feat for her!
"If she comes looking for me, hide. I’ll set up an isolation Array in my room. You just need to relay my message!"
Ji Shang spoke feebly, his breath shallow. Although Song Yuzhong hadn’t managed to stab him to death, the wound was critical. Had Venerable Crane Cry not rescued him in time when he was pulled into the Dream Realm, he would likely be half-dead by now.
Ji Shang recalled that Xiaosuisui was currently challenging the trials in the Array of Heaven. He anticipated she would seek him out later. To prevent another incident like being stabbed in his sleep, he had decided to announce his seclusion as a precaution.
Inside the Array of Heaven, Xiaosuisui was forcefully shaken awake by Ji Youzhi. When she opened her eyes, her head was spinning from the motion.
"Uncle Seven, stop shaking me! If you keep it up, my head might fall off."
Xiaosuisui clutched her head with both hands and took a deep breath to steady herself. Then, she looked around and asked, "Has the Third Level started?"
"It has. Look over there, a painted scroll suddenly appeared."
Ji Youzhi pointed directly in front of them where a scroll had materialized. It was yellowed with age and depicted auspicious clouds, mountains, rivers, various birds, and human figures.
This scroll isn’t simple, why does it look so familiar? Xiaosuisui blinked, murmuring to herself.
Ji Youzhi scratched his head, also blinking. He tilted his head, looking left and right, before finally exclaiming, "The Peering Scroll!"
Xiaosuisui also scratched her head. "Isn’t that just my eldest uncle’s tattered scroll? His scroll is called something like the Heart-Peering Dream Scroll, and I think it’s incomplete. Why would this thing be here?"
Xiaosuisui was completely baffled.
Ji Youzhi replied, "This isn’t your eldest uncle’s. This should be the original Heart-Peering Dream Scroll. The one your eldest uncle possesses was refined by someone later on."
"So, why is this scroll the Third Level? What essential connection does it have with the Array of Heaven?"
Ji Youzhi shook his head. "I’ve never studied Arrays or Illusion Techniques, so how would I know?"
"Arrays and Illusion Techniques?" Xiaosuisui slapped her forehead. "I’ve got it!"
Ji Youzhi glanced at her. "Got what?"
No sooner had he spoken than he saw Xiaosuisui rummage in her sleeve and pull out a Kaleidoscope.
"A Kaleidoscope? Huh... I’ve never seen this Kaleidoscope before?"
Xiaosuisui giggled, holding up the Kaleidoscope in her hand. "My maternal grandfather gave it to me. It’s a Kaleidoscope that can be used to study many Arrays. It’s ever-changing! I’ll use it to see if there are any records of Arrays that can break the Heart-Peering Dream Scroll."
Ji Youzhi blinked, suspecting he was mishearing. "What did you just say?"
"I said I’m going to look inside it to see if there are any records of Arrays for the Heart-Peering Dream Scroll!" Xiaosuisui blinked and repeated herself.
Ji Youzhi waved his hand dismissively. "Not that part. Who gave you this Kaleidoscope?"
Xiaosuisui giggled again. "My maternal grandfather gave it to me!"
"Maternal grandfather? You mean you’ve met your maternal grandfather? How is he? Is he alright?"
Hearing this, Xiaosuisui blinked, suddenly recalling her maternal grandfather’s behavior when he first entered the Dream Realm.
Can I say he’s not doing well?
"Ah! What’s wrong with him? Tell me everything!"
"Grandfather’s mind..." Xiaosuisui trailed off.
Xiaosuisui didn’t dare say her own grandfather had mental issues. But anyway, she felt her grandfather, much like Uncle Seven, wasn’t very sharp. Quite silly, in fact!
"What’s wrong with my father’s mind? Was he injured?"
Greatly worried, Ji Youzhi grabbed Xiaosuisui’s arm and pressed her for answers.
