Li Guanqi was still a hundred zhang away when, to his horror, he sensed another hidden presence lurking in the direction Xu Zhengjie had dodged toward.

“Careful! There’s another one!” Li Guanqi screamed hoarsely, his eyes widening with rage.

A figure emerged and drove a sword straight into Xu Zhengjie’s heart.

“No! No! I’ll kill you all!” Li Guanqi shouted.

But Xu Zhengjie didn’t flinch. Before his enemies could destroy his body, he unleashed a final surge of energy, seizing the two nearest enemies with both arms and locking his legs around the one in front. He looked toward Li Guanqi, pride shining in his eyes, as if entrusting him with the words he could no longer speak.

The explosion sent Li Guanqi flying tens of zhang backward. The enemies caught in the blast were torn to bloody scraps.

In his last moments, Xu Zhengjie had chosen to self-detonate his golden core, dragging his killers into the grave with him.

Li Guanqi screamed at the heavens. “Ahhhh!”
