Chapter 45: Chapter 45
CHAPTER 45
January 1, 2011.
Christian looked over at Sara as she smiled lovingly at the kids, they had decided to visit.
It was a new year, and they had decided to visit a neighbouring kids orphanage not too far from his house, to spend the day.
They had taken along some little provision, which they had collectively bought together, and now after they had been allowed into the orphanage by the matrons earlier on, Sara was busy giving out the goodies to the kids, who were already crowded around her and were grinning from ear to ear.
She was good with kids, that was a known fact, and it was also a bonus for him, as he was well assured that she would be able to take care of his children well, no their children.
God! Where was all these thoughts coming from again, she was just 16, for god's sake, but he still felt amazed and happy at the thought of her in the next four or five years, swollen with his child, the both of them living together, he...........
"Christian, what are you thinking about about? Come over here." Sara shouted, waving at him from where she was squatting and immediately snapping him out from his thoughts.
She had already taken the kids to another corner of the large hall, and he hadn't even noticed as he had been too preoccupied with his thoughts.
Walking over to her, he also thought of how to break the news of his impending leave and his plan to take her along.
They had not really had a very good conversation about his new job, just once when he had told her and that was the last time, they had spoken about it.
Right now, with time not on his side, he knew they had to talk about the issue seriously when they got home.
"Hey love, I'm here, I can see you are doing quite well, as these kids have taken quite the shine on you." He said and he bent over, squatting beside her, and taking one of the little kids with him.
"Yeah, well you can say that. What were you thinking about over there, since we came here, you have been lost in thoughts, and have left me all to myself."
"It's nothing serious, don't worry." He replied smiling at her, he didn't want her thinking and so he just waved of her concerns.
Sara could tell that something was up with Christian, since their visit to the orphanage earlier, he had been quite moody and had seemed reluctant to talk to her.
Also he had seemed lost, staring into space every time and talking to himself, something she had cautioned him about not liking one bit.
Now they were already at home, and she was getting ready to go to the shelter as she had promised the matron (who had suddenly become her and Christian’s friend, allowing then enough visiting time everyday) to come back by 6 and this was already 5:33 pm.
“Hey Christian.” She called, “I need to get going, it’s already becoming late.”
Standing up, she pecked his mum, and brother, as she took her bag and made to leave. His sister Bianca was not yet back from her sleepover turned holiday, so she only extended her greetings.
Dinah POV
I watched from afar as Christian walked with that fucking girl.
God! She’s really getting on my nerves, I need to get rid of her quick, I need to get put an end to this relationship soon.
This is a new year and this is my first new year resolution.
I’m going to stop this thing they call a relationship.
No one can snatch my Christian, my baby, from me. If I can’t have him, then no one else can, period!
Christian thought of how to introduce the topic of his leave or their leave rather as he walked her home to the shelter.
She couldn’t even sense his discomfort as she kept on babbling about the blissful weekend she had spent, and also talking about her new year plans, and…….
“Hey, Christian, I asked you a question.”
“Um, you said.” “What’s going on with you? You have been moody since today, right from the shelter, at home and even here, I’ve been talking but you’ve not said anything. And now I just asked you a question, and you didn’t even reply, this shows that you’ve not being listening to me. I don’t like this!” She exclaimed as she stomped off angrily, walking at a faster pace.
"Hey baby, it's not like that, come back here." He said calling out to her.
"I won't. It's clear you don't have my time today, you might as well go back home to whatever's bothering you, and let me walk to the shelter in peace." She replied still walking faster, but he caught up to her in no time.
Reaching out, he grabbed her hands and spun her towards him, and kissed her effectively shutting her up.
Directing her to a nearby seat on the walkway by the roadside, he sat her down, and carefully arranged the strands of curly hair falling down her flushed and still angry face, and he chuckled.
"What's funny here? Look I really don't like your attitude throughout today. You've been so moody, and you don't want to tell me what's wrong, you are........" She stuttered as he placed his hands on her lips, shushing her quiet.
"It's okay, I'm going to tell you everything bothering me, okay." Taking her face in his hands, and caressing softly, he coughed and cleared his throat, "Well, I've been thinking about something, something."
"Christian, please go straight to the point, stop wasting time, it's already getting late."
"Okay, okay. My leave to Seattle as you know is getting near, and we've not discussed about how it's going to seriously affect us." He said while looking at her.
"Yes, I know, I've being having the thoughts. Like these days, but I didn't know how to approach the topic. So what do you want to do?" She asked him sounding frantic.
"Well, I want to begin processing your departure from the shelter." Finally he had dropped the bombshell, and by the look on her face, see was not having any of it.
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I want to meet the shelter's authorities to inform them about your departure and to convince them that I'll take good care of you." "What do you mean by that, I don't get you, you'll take care of me. How about I first think about it, huh, you can't just expect me to leave the shelter and follow you, what about Ariel, what about my studies, thank God work's out of the way for now, have you even thought if we're going to be together in the long run, what happens when we eventually break up, where would I......." She trailed of as he shut her off with a hand on his lips.
"I don't want to hear any talk of us breaking up, how many times have I told you that I'm here with you till forever, I hate that talk." He replied, sighing frustratingly.
"Okay, okay, I'm sorry, but Christian the process is not easy, there are lots of things you have to do to convince them, I'm just 16, how will it look, I'm leaving with a ma at this young age. I don't understand you sometimes, have you even thought about what people will say, like, damn!" He could see frown lines etched up on her forehead, and he raised his hands to caress them, he hated seeing her stressed or worried.
"I'll take care of you, baby, don't care what people would say, okay I'm here for you." Raising her hands he picked it up and kissed her palms softly.
"Hmmmmn, okay, let's go home, it's really getting late." She said standing up, dusting of little specks of dusts from her dress.
Standing up also, he spinned her round bringing her close to his chest, and took her lips in his, kissing her slowly, the streetlights Illuminating around them, glowing beautifully.
"I love you, Sara, don't you ever doubt that okay." Nodding, she smiled at him and nodded assuringly and his heart skipped when he saw her beautiful smile.
