CHAPTER 41

He was turning 20 in a few days time.

Christian thought of his life these last few years.

Ever since his dad had died, he had been the one shouldering all the responsibilities at home, from the feeding expenses, school fees, allowances for his siblings, rent amongst others he was really grateful to God.

Although his mother helped once in a while, he did almost everything not wanting to stress her in any way, and she always appreciated his efforts well, by supporting his dreams with loving advices and in any other way she could.

Then there was Sara, his Sara, the girl of his dreams, he was starting this new age with her and they were definitely going to celebrate it in style, just the both of them in anywhere she wanted to go.

It was his birthday, but he was going to spoil her that day like it was her celebrating.

He had not told her yet, as he had instructed his mother to tell her herself.

He had called her some days ago, and she had told him her suspension had been lifted up and that she was coming over to his place this weekend, they had not spoken a word about his Seattle transfer, and he had decided not to bring the topic up, as he had not wanted to ruin the moment, maybe when she came this weekend, they (him, his mother and Sara) were all going to discuss the issue.

He was still working at the construction site, but had stopped work at the supermarket and had handed all managerial duties to Daniel and Ariel, who he was sure were dating.

Now sitting by the tree shade, his thoughts went to Sara and the day she had suprised him with a picnic date, he had loved the way she had fed him, laughed with his co-workers and she had definitely made an impression on them all, because they always asked of her everyday.

He wanted them to always have such loving memories, and he made up his mind then and there that she was following him to Seattle, whether she liked it or not, he was going to do all things possible, spend any amount needed, so they could be together.

She was coming with him that was for sure.

DINAH

Dinah and her mean duo Miranda and Tessa watched from their corner as Ariel and Sara played happily together at the shelter's garden.

She also watched as Sara stopped to pick a call from someone on her cell, and from the expression on her face which changed sharply, as she started laughing, smiling and blushing so hard, she knew it was Christian on the line and her heart pinched in jealousy.

God! She couldn't wait to deal with her soon, and break this rubbish relationship of theirs.

"Let's get out of here." She said looking at her friends.

"What's wrong?" Miranda asked munching away at the ice cream cone she held in her hands, licking her lips sumptuously.

"I said, let's get out of here, stop asking me silly questions." She replied haughtily, stomping away in anger, and Miranda and Tessa both looked at themselves in mock pretense and followed her.

She had started one of her tantrums again that was for sure.

ARIEL

Ariel watched as her dear friend Sara laughed so freely and with so much joy on her face as she talked to the other person at the end of the line.

It was Christian of course, and she was so happy and glad that finally Sara had someone removing the constant frowns on her face and making her smile and be genuinely happy at the same time.

Thinking back to Daniel her boyfriend now, she had already agreed to date him, provided the fact that he love and take care of her the same way Christian did to Sara.

Smiling, she decided to break the news to Sara once she was done making with her cell.

"Oh God, Christian's such a shrimp. Can you imagine what he's asking me to do?" Sara said cutting and locking her cell phone and looking up at Ariel who just nodded in the negative.

"You know I'm going to his place this Saturday, well he told me to stay the weekend that he has a surprise for me, he didn't even ask if the shelter would allow me, and when I told him I couldn't stay that long, he said I should sneak out. Can you imagine?" She asked and Ariel just laughed.

"Well, you can be a bad girl for once and go see your baby, you know." Ariel replied her friend, winking at her playfully.

"Whose baby? Can you hear yourself, baby that will put me in trouble, the both of you must be out of your minds."

"Lol, you act as if it's a big deal. Most girls in this shelter most especially Dinah & co sneak out on weekends to go see their boyfriends and they don't get caught. So what's really your problem, don't dull babe, cause soon I'll soon join them and we will all leave you behind when we go out on weekends." Ariel said winking and Sara looked at her raising her eyebrows suspiciously.

"Heh? What am I missing here, what are you not telling me now miss?"

"I have a boyfriend like you, I have finally agreed to date Daniel." Ariel said and Sara squirmed in excitement.

"Wait what, Oh my God! Are you serious? Oh yeah you're serious, see the look on your face. Oh my, Ariel I'm so happy for you babe." She said taking Ariel's palms in hers and stroking it affectionately.

"No, I'm happy for the both of us, we are finally having a good year, even though it's almost ending, we have saved a good sum, become stronger together and most importantly we have found love and happiness, which i know will last. I'm so happy for us Sara I am." Ariel said and didn't even know when tears started falling from her eyes.

Her hormones were at work, and she was really a fucking emotional lot, that was for sure. Sniffling, she reached our for her handkerchief in her bag.

"Yes, Ariel, I'm so happy for us. I never imagined all this you know, this love I have for Christian is something I've not felt before, And I don't want it to end, our relationship is going to grow in fruitfulness and success, I pray so." Sara said wiping at a stray tear that had fallen from her eyes.

"Yes, it will last, I'm sure of that." Ariel said replying her best friend, sister and backbone.
