Chapter 23: Chapter 23

CHAPTER 23

The week passed painfully fast, after their date last Saturday, Sara couldn't wait to see Christian again.

After the date that day, she had come back to the shelter soaked to the core, clothes dripping with water but still satisfied and excited on the day well spent.

She had told Ariel everything and how the dinner had gone successfully well, followed by the ride in the ocean, she had concealed the fact that they had shared a passionate kiss, choosing not to disclose such intimate affairs with her yet.

Now yawning from her bed, the rays of the blinding morning sunlight reflected on her face, getting up from her bunk, she saw that Ariel was still fast asleep, putting on her slides, she went to the bathroom to rinse her face and brush her teeth.

When she was done, she went back to her room to see that all the girls had already woken up, and Ariel was arranging her side of the bed, walking up to her friend she greeted, "Good morning sunshine."

"Pumpkin, why didn't you wake me as soon as you got up." Ariel asked and Sara placed her palms on her forehead in mock surprise.

"Well, I didn't want to disturb from your precious slumber, or is there something important you want to do this morning?" She asked and her friend chuckled.

"Not really, let's pray, do our daily routine and get out from here bitch, today is Friday, no school, no where to go so lets do some random window shopping and surf the city, before we return and then you go to work." Ariel said and Sara clapped in excitement.

"Ayyy, let's go have lots of fun." She replied bouncing on her toes.

**********

After almost 3 hours of roaming the city, Sara and Ariel decided to stop at Christian's supermarket to buy some refreshments, and also she was actually hoping to see him secretly.

Although he normally called and texted her, she still missed him so much and wanted to see him. When they got to the store, Ariel opened the door and they went inside.

However they only met Daniel at the receptionist desk, and the store looked empty without any sign of Christian being around.

"Hey D." Ariel greeted him and reached over to give him a light peck on his cheeks, which had him turning all shades of red and blushing hard, since she and Christian had started dating, it seemed Daniel and Ariel had kicked of something too or were in the process of doing so, because if they were dating or anything of that sort, she would have already been informed, but reverse was the case.

"Hello, pretty ladies, how's the day going?" He asked them.

"It's going well, thanks Daniel." Sara replied still using her eyes to browse the supermarket to see if she could get a glimpse of Christian, but all to no avail, she was sure he was not around, cause through the sound of her voice alone, he was supposed to come outside from wherever he was.

"Oh yeah right, so what do you girls want, or are you here to see Christian?" He asked her and she blushed, stammering before she replied, "Yes, yes, um no, we actually came to the store to get something to eat."

"Or you were secretly hoping to see Christian too?, Ma'am." Ariel asked winking at her and fondly hitting her shoulders.

Shy at being caught so easily she finally admitted it, "Well yes, I also wanted to see him, just to greet him, you know."

"Yeah, we know, we know." Ariel said laughing at her jokingly before she took off to get some snacks, "What should I get you to eat?"

"Anything." She replied waving her off and turning to face Daniel to ask him about Christian, the love of her life, Oh! Did she really think that in her head.

Smiling, she was about to ask when he said, "To satisfy your curiosity, Christian didn't come to work today, it seems he's not feeling fine, yeah he's not he called earlier on to say he would be taking the day off."

"Oh." She muttered, what was wrong with him? She wondered, she hoped it was nothing serious, and she did not even know his home address, looking up at Daniel she decided to ask him for a favour.

*********

Sara arrived at the gated community housing the neighborhood Christian lived in, holding some fruits she had gotten him, she was feeling shy, this was the first time she was coming to see him, coming to his house, she was going to meet his family, this was not how she predicted it but there was nothing she could do about it.

Glancing at the piece of paper in which Daniel had written his house address for her, she squeezed the paper and walked up to the front porch, and knocked gently on the wooden door.

She knocked twice without receiving any response, sighing she dropped the bag in her hand and resolved to knock again, when the door opened and a beautiful woman in her late or mid- forties opened the door quietly.

***********

Mrs Smith opened the front door quietly and peeped to see who was at the door, she was not expecting anyone and Christian ad not informed her of him expecting anyone also.

Standing reclusively by the door side was a pretty looking caramel skinned girl holding a leather bag, she looked stressed and worn out, her slippers chapped from walking too much it seemed.

Who was this? She thought to herself.

"Hello, how can I be of help to you?" She asked.

"Good evening ma'am, I'm Sara Parker, I'm looking for Christian, Christian Smith." the girl answered stammering in confusion.

Oh, and then it hit her, was this the girl her son had fell head over heels in love with, the girl he had mentioned in his sleep earlier today when his fever had been high and he was shivering hotly, the silent Sara, oh my, she smiled to herself.

"Well, yes you are at the right place, I am Mrs Smith, come inside." She offered gently and invitingly, smiling at her with ease and opening the door wider.
